If you also need a presure cooker, Fungi Perfect (www.fungi.com) sells a hot plate/pressure cooker combo. You can also find cheap hot plates on labx (www.labx.com) or ebay (www.ebay.com). Be very careful that you have good ventiliation if you are using a propane burner indoors. Any incomplete combustion can result in the release of carbon monoxide, a nasty colorless, orderless, and leathal (at >20ppm lte) gas.

Are you really this ignorant? You've found all the other supplies for growing, but you can't find a hotplate? I think you are seriously posting this as a joke anyway, if you are planning on running a pressurecooker on it, think again, it wont work. they simply dont get hot enough not the one i had anyway, i had a 1000w one, and it WOULD NOT raise the pressure to 10psi, let alone 15. (this was after sitting for 2 hours) so i scrapped that idea, and used conventional stove

No, I'm not ignorant. It is not like I know where to go out and get one. Thanks for everyone that was able to give me a little help. Its not right for someone to call me ignorant, I didn't know if a hot plate would work or not. If you're just going to have something rude to say, you might as well keep it to yourselves. By the way, yes I DO know what a hot plate is, I just thought I'd ask, because I didn't know if one would even work. No thank you for your lame post.

Just go buy an electric "Extra Burner" at wal-mart or K-mart. They do work for pressure cookers (I know I use one myself) and are extremely cheap..They fit in a small area too.

I got mine at Wal Mart for $24. It's a dual burner model, one 650 watts and one 1000 watts. It's made by Munsey, works fine for me.

I have a sweet hotplate/stirrer that I use to produce spore syringes. It is a corning model PC-420 and it fucking rocks... you really have to have one to appreciate it. And yes they are useless for PCing but very useful for other things. It provides the ultimate in sterility when preparing syringes. Not to mention it looks all professional and stuff. The only thing I need now is a temperature monitor that costs $200+ USD. There are few out therethat can get this hotplate/stirrer for the price I got it for. For most people it is tough to justify paying the cost of one these sweet lil babies. For one that's alot less expensive just go to Wally World and get a coffee hotplate.

eBay has digital pressure cookers, just plug em up and go to work! http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1327029257 for $26.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1326383761 for $29.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1326383789 for $28.00 Don't run the bid up too high on these things. These's ten of them on there now and they're there all the time. Hope that helps! Peace .

I'm still working from prints. Once I get enough coin saved up Im going to get some petri dishes and start cloning and working with agar and make mycelium syringes. I hope.
