Phil Lesh new years show (link to show inside)
    #5239141 -

i just grabed this show today
god it was amazing
its a realy good example of the new stuff phil has been trying latly.
larry chamble seems to lead phil into these really edgy jams with intense almost ska like rhyems. and ryan adams actauly aint to bad of a guitarist
and phil follows him around exeptionaly well. the only thing is somtimes it seem like hes leading him right off a cliff

probly my favorite highlight of the show was the FOTM
not only is it exeptinaly good
but at the end the jam pretty much just drops off, off a cliff like i said befor
ryan adams pretty much takes it there
but then as soon as the jam is taken down to silence ryan kicks it back in
and the amount of energy it comes back with is like 1000 times anything i have ever witnessed musicaly :gd_icon: :tripping:
give it a listen. it will give you goos bumps

edit: actualy the part where they come back into fire is placed on the begining of candyman, wich is the next song, but any way listen to the fire all the way through then prepare to get your mind blown

I enjoyed rob singing again was a great thing to hear. I fealt the stella blue was good, but it left me missing warren singing it for sure. I also wish they would of let joan do more than just sugaree. I agree larry campbell rocks, and brings some new life to the band

yeah joan was way way way under used
im not a big fan of warren, but he did have a great voice
the Q was getting old
I mean yeah they where solid as hell
jimmy and warren only could take stuff so far

other highlights included:
-kick as sugar mag
-joan on drums on candyman
-a cosmic bird song (that one put a huge gin on my face  i had been praying for a birdsong that whole night)
-notfade away reprise, and uncle johns band reprise
hell its all so good

only real disapointment was ripple, way too slow and way to retarded
ryan adams need to learn the lyrics better

It says that the Sugaree track was split into two parts because of a falling drunk.

the pcp fell during the second set

another highlight:
during the second not fade away lary camble is really groovin with phil
he has a tendency to play these really intence phythems like "chuga chuga chuga chuga chuga" that fit in so nive with phil

any way when phil is singin the verse he pointes his finger in a circle at everyone in the theatre and screams "YOUR LOVE FOR ME HAS GOT TO BE REAL! YOUR GONNA KNOW JUST HOW I FEEL!" its those high moments i live for
when you can tell the whole band is having a the time of there lifes

ok ill stop blabing about how great a show it was now
just dl it and cdecide for yourself

actually i gotta start this from the beginning and listen to it all the way through.

i always feel like i'm cheating if i flip to a song in the middle of a show that is super high intensity, without having listened to all the build-up that brought the energy up to that level

wow good show so far, although there are some annoying pops and clicks during trucking

but i'm looking forward to this Truckin'>Deal>UJB>FOTM>Candyman>Stella Blue>Terrapin>Jam>Bird Song>NFA . that's an insane second set!

I agree that the Q was at the end of its talents, but I just don't think ryan adams pushed stella blue far enough for me. I have to say the last night of AC was an amazing show though. I really think I prefer chris robinson over ryan adams

Thanks for the link. I gotta chEck out that show.

If anyone knows how to use bittorent I suggest downloading these DVDs:

This is video plus soundboard quality audio of the fisrt half of the 12-10-05 Phil & Friends show. I just watched it and it's great. I guess the other half (disc 2) will be seeded soon:

The other is Grateful Dead footage from their '78 visit to the pyramids in Egypt. There is some great concert footage and also a lot of footage of them just exploring Egypt and interacting with natives:

is that second one video as well?

thanks for the links.

and pillow, i thought the second set was fire, well except perhaps the vocals (they should've turned joan up!), and some popping and hissing in the recording itself

the popping is the baloons :tounge:
i think mr. adams needs to study his dead albums more closly
he wnew all the lyrics but not how to sing them to the music
i think his warf rat was pretty good
when he lets out that booming "more then my wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine" my heart nearly sttoped
