Yeah but who remembers REAL bean bags, little 6" by 6" corduroy or denim bags -- filled with ACTUAL BEANS (the hard white ones) -- that we all used to use for various group activities in gym class. I hadn't thought about them for years. I don't even remember what we were supposed to do with them, just that we always ended up whipping them across the gym floor at kids who weren't looking. And one of them would have a hole in the corner and beans would spiral out all over the gym when you threw it and some kid would eat one of the beans on a dare and would be made fun of for the rest of the year. ("It's growing inside your stomach... you're gonna DIE, man")

Did these things actually exist or am I remembering some strange series of dreams I had as a kid. When I read the subject of your post I thought those were the bean bags your were talking about, but then everyone was talking about the chairs. I'm pretty sure there were never chairs with actual beans in them.

Yes, there were. There were still around in the mid to late 80's.
