From the previews, Charlize Theron doesn't look nearly as hot as she did in the Italian Job. Haven't seen Aeon yet though so I dunno.

I think I may stck with the old animated version.

Yeah I didn't so much dig the weird stuff either. Aeon Flux wasn't my favorite by any means though.

The Maxx was the best.

If they ever make a movie of the Maxx (which they wont).. they better fucking get it right.. or heads will roll.

Ya, they didn't follow the cartoon enough for me.  But i'm glad they waited to long.  It could've been shitty story + shitty special effects.

But you know, i'll take a off-story movie about a cartoon i used to love rather than no movie at all.  Especially if i'm not funding it in any way :grin:

I always thought that AF was a highly articulate expression of Chinese philosophy. Very deep and intelligent. Possibly my favorite cartoon of all time.

Amen to that!  Every once in a while I get the urge to watch it (I bought it on VHS years ago).  Only ever sat through it one time while tripping though.  Good stuff! :thumbup:

Oh, and I loved the Aeon Flux cartoon but I didn't see the movie. Somehow I knew a live-action just wouldn't hold up no matter who they got to play her.

That's just because The Maxx was a depressed purple guy with claws living in a crazy dimension where he's got these black blobs of ink splots with giant teeth always chasing him and ambushing him during vulnerable times like when he is taking a shit.. and this weird ass chick who's oblivious to it all living in her own world and is kind of his girlfriend but not really.. and the evil genius guy who controlled the IZ.. it's been awhile since I've seen it so the memory is rusty. But I remember it kind of depressing.. but totally fucking awesome at the same time. You'd probably be depressed too if you were the Maxx. Except when he got pissed.. he was awesome.

Oh yeah I remember that too. The black and white flashback scenes. The Maxx world itself was pretty damn bleak.. maybe that's part of the reason why I was such a depressed young fuck. :lol:

Seriously man.. that's what I remember the most.. just being like woah.. tripping.. without tripping.. because it's a trippy ass cartoon. But when you think about it, a lot of stuff that is good to trip to has its depressing moments- the wall, fantasia, etc.. I guess it's part of the yang. But the Maxx did have a lot more than usual. I always attributed it to the artist. Plus, it's a pretty dark story line.. while still maintaining a slight edge of humor and lightness here and there.. and just plain fucking creativeness.

That's the only MTV I remember, man. You say MTV I think headbangers ball, the maxx, liquid television..

I stopped watching it completely after they stopped playing good music videos and started playing shit like real world. That was what like 10 years ago.. 12?
