Would blowers like these work for a flowhood?

Could either of these be integrated with a 24"x12" Hepa Filter?

im not a fan expert but i would say you dont want to use a regualar fan like those.. you need a squirl cage fan to push threw the filters.  has something to do with static preshure or something like that.. like i said im not an expert thats just :2cents: worth.. could be compleatly wrong.. gl :smile:

The first blower, the Air King from amazon appears to be a squirrel cage fan in a plastic housing and it runs at 1200 CFM on low. Sounds like it would work. Anyone??

Cheaper alternative:

Homemade still-air glovebox. Road's got some good pics of his.

Sure, they're not as convenient as a flow hood, but they're a helluva lot cheaper and easier to build!

Ya afoaf's has an ok glovebox. But he don't like the restrictions it has. he was hoping to get a cheap fan, but apparently no one knows if these or anything else cheap would work. The 1/16 hp motor on the first one scares me. he thinks even tho it does put out pretty high cfm, it would lack under any static resistance because the motor may be too weak to push air thru the HEPA filter.

you could always call up a heating/cooling company and ask them if they have any old blowers laying around of of an old heater or A/C unit.. or look on ebay i found a 1700 CFM squirl cage all wired up w/ on/off switch for 60$
