Do you ever get a 'half quater'?

On another message board I post on thats based Around the greater Toronto Area, a thread about 'Toronto Slang' came up, and one of the slang which people mentioned is saying "half quater" instead of an 1/8th

- just wonderng, has a half quater appeared in other areas? or is it a strictly GTA thing, and everyone says an eight?

I'm from the GTA and maybe it is just a strictly toronto thing but I also refer to it as being a half-quarter or half-quad:shrug:

edit: I've never refered to it as an "eighth", even when I see 1/8 I think half-quad

Canadians up to their usual Canadian bacon antics. Just say eighth for fuck sake. Why don't they say a quarter half? Either way it sounds dumber than a box of GWB.

I'm Canadian and I've never even heard of this. It's not a Canadian thing in all, just a Toronto thing, I guess.

I never thought of it as just a Toronto thing. I'm in etobicoke, and the word 1/8th is NEVER used. Its always been half-quarter or half-q. Toronto is a pretty big player in the whole marijuana culture, I guess.

On the same topic, is it custom also to refer to a pot purchasing ammount as "<$ ammount>-sack" everywhere, or is this again a Toronto slang?, eg: 20-sack or 40-sack?

I am in Tennessee and we say half quarter and 1/8. It seems to be the younger people here that say an 1/8.

Used to hear hicks and rednecks say "half quarter" where I'm from..

Lots of people call 1/8th a "half" around there too. I always think half-ounce when I hear that though.

Big players? Sounds like a bunch of idiocy to me. There's enough slang, we've all just settled on 1/8ths, 1/4ths, halves and ounces for cryin out loud.

Lets not get me started on dime bags that don't weigh a gram, nor are they $10 in price.

isn't that an eighth? A half is a half of anounce here.

i try not to buy herb in qty less then an ounce. just get a better price break usually there and i seam to be high all day.

Some of the local miscreant ?gang bangers? around here refer to bags that weigh in at 1/8 oz as ?quarters? because they charge $25.00 for them. They apply the same logic used to arrive at the common ?dime bag? colloquialism and come up with this ?quarter? misnomer. It isn?t even a matter of intentionally misleading people? they simply don?t understand what 1/4 means let alone an 1/8th. "Half an eighth" seems almost intelligent? at least that can be looked at as semantics if you want to be really kind. Are we talking highly complex mathematical formula or what.

Only people I hear use the term half quarter are hillbillies and old time coke/crack heads. 

Half quad sounds like a broke ATV :lol:
