My Birthday Sunrise and a Gift From the Elephants

WEll this is the third time I have now tried to post this and the friggin Asian computer keeps freezing on me.

Well, after 15 days of drought since I left Samui in September and returned, we finally had a two hour midnigt to two am monsoon.

I thought for syure there would be massive shrooms today since it was my birthday.

I awoke at 6 am to find this critter on my wall.

Check out those red glowing eyes.

Now that seemed to me to be a good sign, so I then went out to photogrpah the beautiful sunrise at the Hat Lamai Beach Resort I was staying at. This was about 6:30 to 6:45 in the morn.

I took over 60 photos in that period. HEre are five of those beautiful sunrise images.

So then at 7 AM I started down the highway. First thing I saw along the road was a big black buffalo getting a bath. so I took his photo.

And then I came upon a cocoonut monkey getting ready to work. I gave the owner a ten baht coin and took this picture of the coconut monkey.

So after two visits to two different fields, one for Cubes and there were none and then a visit to the buffalo arena and there were no copes so I decided to visit the elephant shit heaps of Na Muang. They usually now burn the shit after it has dried a little and they also toss all of their local garbage and shit into the heaps. Here is one of those flower mushrooms. I tried to get prints on black paper but was unable to obtain any spores. they are very pretty shrooms.

There were several of the flower shrooms all voer int he elephant dung.

Then I noticed several specimens of Bolbitius int he heaps and Coprinus as well as some giant P. antillarums.

Here is a large Bolbitious, possiblythe tri-color species.

That shroom was larger than a giant lemon.

And the finally, there inthe distance of another heap of manure, I espied the lone cubensis, guardian of the dung heaps, all majesticvc in its appearance.

Behold the muighty cube of the chaung.

And after peeling away theannulus which is partially hanging in the above Image I took this shot.

And since this all had such an esoterical appeal to the psychedelia of Asia, here is the goddest of arms.

So for two hundred dollars and a rount trip airplane charge, I got two spore prints from this baby
