what if your husband went around screwing all of your closest friends, and went laughing about it with all his buddies? Would you still think love was great then?

But...that's not love. How can you even suggest that's what love is? That's cruel and selfish, love is forgiving. If someone did that to you...I assure you that she DID NOT love you. If she told you that she did, she was mistaken on the concept.

well no shit she didn't love me. I loved her, AND FORGAVE HER FOR IT. Even though it really really hurt. And even though we don't see eachother anymore, I would still take bullets for that girl. You do realize that feelings aren't always mutual, right? Geez, how old are you? Not every romance is storybook. But whatever. I don't know why I'm telling you this. You'll figure it out when you get older.

Wow, being condecending is fun, eh?

I'm sorry your love life is full of pain and hurting, but just because yours sucks doesn't mean anyone else is allowed to be involved in successful, co-dependent, loving relationships.

There's no need to take your shit out on me for having faith in love. And I think I've got it figured out just fine, thanks tho.

I'm not taking anything out on anyone. How am I persecuting you by expressing my opinion? I don't get it. I'm just issuing a warning to those who don't know: love can hurt just as much as it helps. Its a double-edged sword. When you truly love someone, you are opening yourself up to the opportunity for being hurt by them, big time. And sadly, many people will take that opportunity. Saying that love is all flowers and sunshine, or that it is a cure-all, is simply false advertising. There is a dark side to everything, including love. Unwavering optimism in these matters can be a dangerous attitude.

You're not going to break into "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and The News, are you?

sure, but when you're out of chips, you quit playing right?  Or are you the type who would ring up gambling debts thinking to yourself "This time, I'm gonna win!  Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!"

I dunno, man.  People who are in love and talk about how great love is are a lot like people high on cocaine talking about how great cocaine is.  Sure, the high is great, but there is also a hangover.

Gotta know how to play the cards and you'll never run out of chips. Sure I've taken a loss or two, but I'm still at the top of my game, nothing can bring me down for good.

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way.  Thanks for shitting all over my thread with your insecurities, though!

Fact of the matter still lies;  you choose to feel the way that you do.  You choose to look at love as an ugly, painful, hurtful thing.  I could do that if I wanted to, too.  I have had ugly, painful, hurtful experiences too...but I refuse to dwell on them.  Why would I want to?

Why would I choose to be vengeful and alone when I can be with someone as amazing as I am lucky enough to be with?  Sure, he now holds the power to hurt me, but I'll always, always have the power to walk away IF that happens.  And god forbid, if it ever did...I would look back and think about all the things he taught me about freedom, and human nature, and why it's ok to fall in love again.  Because it has happened, but that doesn't mean that because one is bad...they're all bad.

No wonder you're bitter with an attitude like that.  I feel sorry for you.  :frown:

first of all, its not 'your' thread. once you put something on the internet, it belongs to everyone.

second of all, I am not 'insecure' simply because I acknowledge that all things have a darkside. Facing reality is not insecurity, hiding behind fantasy is.

if thats what you got out of my comments, you need to work on your reading comprehension. I do not look at love in a negative way, I simply acknowledge that it can be just as negative as it is positive. And when someone represents love as 100% positive, I feel obligated to point out that it can be negative as well.

If you stuck your finger in an electrical socket and got shocked, would you do it again? Or would you learn your lesson and move on?

Dear Ex-Boyfriends,

Leave your ex girlfriends alone so I can show them what they've been missing without dealing with extra drama.  Thank you.

I don't have much to contribute about love, so I thought I'd throw out there what I do know
