sampler equipment (what should i buy?)

ok i want to make an investment into some electronic sound equipment
i have virtually no experience or knowledge on products but i am looking for something that has alot of options and tweakability.

im thinking of a good sampler... something i can mess around with alot, but also is good for tapping out your own beats with your fingers

any suggestions?

oh and most importantly i need something INEXPENSIVE... so maybe a good older model that i could find on ebay would be nice.

any comments about what models are good and which are bad and WHY would be awesome

if you can find a used Akai MPC 1000 that would be ideal for your use. you might get a used one for $400. BOSS SP-303 Dr. Sample you can get new for $300 (shipping included) here:
