what is the point of very high detail photorealistic renders? They ruin the whole art part in art.

if it's not adding to the work, it's taking away from it...

can you point me to the direction of a good piece?

so far all i've seen is cliche work which is neither expressive nor balanced. I've only seen pseudo-surrealistic work and similar such :ngyah:

just to clarify what I was saying:
people don't seem to take into account the medium they are working in. Digital work is as poor as possible in terms of the physicality of artwork, and thus the process becomes neglible. People try to compensate for this by forcing their purpose into the digital work, oversaturating it with detail and forcing the life out of it. Detail is fine, but only when it is purposeful.

As digital work has no mark, it will never really be expressive. Thus, it is perfect for commercial art, where expressiveness is generally neglibile but clarity important. In any sort of personal art, this is utter poison.
