What the hell is up with Banana peels and gum? I have heard so many rumors but never anything concrete. What is up with this fruit mixed with gum. Has anyone ever honestly tried this? Just curious but not a whole lot of desire to try it :tongue:

Nuh uh! One time I drank some magic orange juice and tripped for 9 hours. The guy at stop and shop sold it to me for $35 too! It was crazy. I had a realy dry throat and then it went away and I saw frozen meat!

I have no idea what in before the lock means but don't drug users already have a bad name? I don't think smoking a banana peel is going to make society cringe much more than it already does  :grin:

I didn't really mean I want to smoke them. All I know is I heard something about gum + bananas= psychadelic. I have no doubt it is an urban legend though. I am just curious if anyone else has heard about this and if so, what have you heard? What would be the basis for such a claim? How would this conceivably work? Everyone is saying it's bullshit but how do you know, have you tried it or known someone who did? That's all I was wondering and jokes aside it is a legitimate question. I have to plead ignorance on this and am just curious. If it is B.S then I wonder how the idea has been tossed around to become some kind of common knowledge (or myth). Thanks!

I don't know how valid this is but... here goes.

I heard that Bananas contain minute amounts of THC and that it can be isolated and made into hash. Part of what I heard was that the hash was called mellow yellow. maybe right maybe not just what was heard. Has anyone else heard this?

I don't think that's true. Just the other day I was reading about THC in The Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Plants and it says in there that to date (Late 90's I believe when the book was first released) Cannabis is the only thing that THC occurs in that has been discovered.

That aside, yeah I remember reading that years and years and years ago in the anarchist cookbook. Funny stuff. I sure as hell believed it at the time. I still think it may have a potential to actually taste good. But if there's just like sugars and tannins in it then it probably wouldn't be worth it to huff into my lungs.

I too, shall stick with the all-mighty cannabis plant!

Seriously: You can extract tryptophan from banana peels, decarboxylate that, slap two methyl groups on the amine and you've got DMT, the best psychedelic smoke around, and if you selectively oxidize the 4 position you'll get Psilocin, the active ingredient of shrooms.
