Drying in motel/hotel room?
    #4013501 - 04/04/05 07:12 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

(Before I continue, I just want you to know I am not a commercial grower)

With the current situation I am in, drying a semi-large quantity of marijuana is not likely. If hanging everything up in the bathroom (after all the trimming and manicuring was done - out of the path of any eyes), and brought along a quiet carbon filter fan (as quiet as I can find - the strains would be low odor), what things should I make sure of? I pretty much have everything planned out, and the only real risk I see is the maid. I could always just be in the room when he/she is (obviously I would sure everything was shut off and out of site), and make sure to leave the door locked and have the "do not disturb" sign up so he/she doesn't come it. I would think that if I went the entire week without asking for even a new towel, they might get a little suspicious. Does this idea seem promising, or am I setting myself up to fall? Should I just delete this thread?

what kind of quantities is being dealt with here? that's way too much money to dry some weed unless you're a commercial grower IMO (which I know you say you're not)... and if you go to a cheap ass hotel you're guaranteed to have mold ALL OVER the place, ESPECIALLY in the bathroom. I used to work in one of the higher class hotels in town and even there we found mold while doing renovations. I would really say take that money you would spend on a week in a hotel, and make yourself some of those rubbermaids with the built in fans and carbon scrubbers. you can reuse those rubbermaids over and over and over, but that money will only get you into a hotel once.

just the very thought of processing any illicit substance in a place like a hotel sounds risky man. although, if you look at some of chinacat's threads he used to dip blotter in hotel rooms way back when. good luck whatever you end up doing

You have no rights to privacy in a hotel room, and such a small area (even if a low smell strain) would stink up pretty quick.

You don't have a garage, shed, etc.?

Damn, Thats way to risky if you ask me.
Especially if you use your real name to get the room.

sounds too risky. i mean it COULD work, but you have no rights in hotel rooms.

I would hate to be drying a shitload of bud, feeling on top of the world, watching some movies when the fuzz came knockin the door down.

bad times.

Weird that you have a good enough place to grow it, but not a good enough place to dry it, as far as odor goes...

Well, odor isn't going to be a problem if it's outdoors. It's also quite a bit cheaper and less "technical" than indoors too...

I live with my dad in a 2 bedroom condo and I was thinking of doing the same thing a couple months ago but decided against it for security reasons. I just hung them upside down overnight and all day while my dad was at work with a small space heater on which in effect drys them in one day. Its not the best way to do it but in an Ed Rosenthal book I have he talks about huge grow ops in the netherlands that do the same thing so its not all bad. If your going to go the hotel route go with an extended stay hotel so you will have more privacy. Good luck.

that idea doesnt sound smart to me.

You have a place to grow it but not dry it?.

Yeah, I see now it isn't the best of ideas.  I've worked it out though.

And baraka, as I said a couple posts up (or down) "Well, odor isn't going to be a problem if it's outdoors.  It's also quite a bit cheaper and less "technical" than indoors too..."

Thanks everyone for your comments, I appreciate it! :sun:

I had my colonizing jars in a motel with me. They really loved the bathroom's heatlamp. I tied a rubber band around the timer so it would never shut off and it stayed 85F in there all the time.

I wouldn't suggest doing anything with any sort of a smell however.

Renting out a storage unit would probably be safer, but only by a little....I actually thought about conducting an op in one of them back in the day...

if you want to make yourself ultra secure, grab one of those door stop jams and just drill it into the bottom of the door.

Install your own lock.

It probably won't cost you much... it's kind of like a fail safe. Just think of it like a "Do Not Disturb" sign only this one is invisible and says "stay the fuck out"

It is bad! You know why weed is dried for 2 to 4 weeks (ideal situation) is that the weed will become sweeter. The weed will taste way better then forced dried weed!

Me and my bro tested it... Putting some weed in the oven at 40 Degrees Celcius and laid it sit there for about an hour and a half... It was dry but tasted like shit... Instead when you dry it for at least a week or 2 the weed tastes way better!

you are talking about something that is extremely illegal in a place where you've got little privacy and your name is attached. don't cut corners with this kind of shit. this is how people get busted and do hard time. take security seriously or don't do this at all. hotel room for drying pot? don't even think about it.
