Glass pipes on an airplane?

SO, I just bought a few really nice pipes here in Florida, however I will be flying back in a few days. Knowing that I would be on an airplane, I havent broken these pipes in yet, there is no illicit resin to speak of. Will this be a problem going through security? Unless the unlikely event of a random search reveals them, there should be no way I can get snagged. Well that's whatd I'd hope but those damn terrorists are making it harder and harder for us to get away with stuff. Do you think this is a great risk? I dont think it will be but I'd really like to avoid a scene in the airport. Thanks all!

Put it in checked luggage maybe?

I only have one bag and im carrying it on. 5 or 6 years ago before this whole 9/11 stuff I was able to bring one back. Do you think that those xray machines would be able to discern a pipe? I really doubt it but again, this is one of those things I'd rather not trust to a hunch or inclination.

I have extensive experience with xrays as used to detect items in bags, and i would be very confident putting some peices in checked luggage.
Even were a manual search to find them, they're just pipes. Suspicious pipes, maybe, but still just pipes. Put em in checked luggage. Carryon could make people think you plan to smoke, and could lead to further problems.
Shipping em home (2/3 day priority USPS) is probably the most incognito route tho,

if they do not have marijuana resin in them, they are legal. pack it with some pipe tobacco and you'll be ok.

as for the x-ray glass pipes do contain metals. colorchanging pipes are coated with silver and gold and the colored lines on the glass itslef also contains some metals, so yes it would probably show up on an x-ray. in order to avoid any hassles i always recomend to people to ship their pipes home when i sell glass to people fro out of state

You could walk into the airport WAVING a huge bong around, as long as it doesn't have resin on it there is nothing illegal about it! You bought it in a legal shop didn't you? What can they do if there is no illegal substance in it or on you?
My friend bought some pipes in Cali last summer, and brought them back just fine. Check them with your regular luggage, wrap em real good so they don't get broken by the throwers. Or take 'em on in your carry on if you think they won't survive.
I think the only issue is whether they will get broken on the way.

As pointed out, they're 100% legal. You may get hassled if they find it, but they can't really do anything about it since it's just a glass tobacco pipe.
Legally, you shouldn't have any problems, but realistically you might get hassled, so if you want to avoid that possibility you could ship it. If it were me, I'd just wrap it in some protective stuff so it doesn't get broken and hide it under my clothes in the luggage suitcase.
