Hash oil
    #3572665 -

For those here at the pub who have experience making hash oil, what have you found to be the best overall solvent? Out of the two main methods, of grinding up the bud and letting it sit in a jar with acetone or isopropanol versus the butane method, the butane seems to yield better oil but also yields less.

As I am going to make hash with 15 or 20 grams of good nug, what solvent would be recommended? Butane seems to be perfect if you grow your own and have lots of trimmings and bud to use to get relatively little oil, but for under an ounce of hash making would it be as good, or would acetone or perhaps isopropanol be recommended instead?

I wouldnt make oil from buds unless you got a lot xtra i feel some is lost in the process no matter what.

If you do use alochol extraction try to quickwash it as much as possible. Cover broken up herb in a jar, cover with alcohol and shake like hell for 30 seconds then strain. Repeat once more if ud like. You get much tastier oil doing it quickwash.

You might be better off posting stuff like this in ODD.

listen I do this all the time...

grind up the bud you smoke in a coffee grinder and save the kiff that builds up on the lid in a film canaster. when the canister if full put it in a jar with about 400ml of iso shake like hell every 5 min for an hour, strain through a coffee filter and evap in a double boiler, this way you will still be able to smoke the bud, plus this method yeilds much more potent oil than just using nugs, for every 5 grams of kiff put in expect 4.5 grams of nice oil. for storage if you use those glass vials from headshops make sure to store them upright as they ALWAYS leak a little,

you can also make oil by cleaning your pipes and bongs with iso then filtering and evaporating as normal, this oil is very potent but very thick and it tastes terrible, personally I will clean my pipe and toss it in with the kiff oil then evap. together, that way you can't taste it but you get a better yeild and it isn't chunky.

ask me anything I know one whole hell of a lot about oil

YOU MIX KIF AND PIPE TAR TOGETHER!!!! dude just smoke the kif on a screen no need to oil it up. In my opinion atleast. I smoke the kif from my grinder alone because it always gives me a pretty unique type of high compared to the buds i made it with.

Oil is generally for leftovers. Here is some oil i made with a few ounces of stems. Another thing about oil. I always see pics of stuff that is till too liquidy definatly with solvent still remaining. When you think its evaped all the way let it evap more. You should be able to scrape the stuff up like in my pics and not have it be a runny mess.

please please read at overgrow on how to PROPERLY make butane honey oil should you attempt to do it..

And like baraka was saying, who ruins KIFF with nasty pipe resin? I have taken resin hits from an empty bowl, but never have I smoked the ISO cleaned filtered evaporation of bowl resin.. I am gonna try it sometime.

What solvent did you use to make that oil?

I realize that you do lose some in the process, but all they sell around here is bud, never any hashish or hash oil, so I want to try something different with the buds this time.

I did the same...

take some advice- Try to get a kiff screen and kiff the bud first before you make the oil..

As far as ISO or butane, stick with ISO for your first time... makes some nice oill..Like baraka said, QUICK IS KEY.. 2 mintues max... and always wash it at least twice, even if you evap them in 2 seperate containers for 2 different oils..

After you have your oil, smoke it like that, or mix it with the kiff you made for the most potent thing you ever had

Quick washing is the key to getting a tastier brown smoke then a black tarry one.

first time I did ISO the oil looked dark green in the pan and black when I scraped it up with a razor.. I combined it with about a gram of very dank bud, all powdered up, as well as mixing some kiff in with it.. The combination of bud oil and kiff made the high unlike others...

The next time I made kiff I smoked it alone and mixed in with oil.. I find the high slightly different- do you? The kiff high is more intense, but not necessarily bad.

kiff alone is a tasty treat If im packin a bowl thats what I do but I don't smoke oil in a bong or pipe, I spread it on my spliffs, I clean 1 pipe per roughly 20 grams of kiff thus there is no noticible difference in taste...the are my ghetto methods

if you want the top quality stuff with iso use kiff or trim alone and filter the solution through activated charcoal, this will produce the best cherry oil, and it is a nice deep red color

go to OG www.overgrow.com.....there the experts

20 grams of kif?  Man you smoke more herb then i do.  It takes me quite a while to build up a single gram of kif.  Even so a single gram of kif i can smoke on for a while.

My weeed dude who hooked me up with ounces of stems says and i gave him some of the hash i made.  He tells me he has almost a hp of stems now..... ill make sure to take pics of the process when i get them.  I should get 7+ grams of decent hash from a hp.....

Edit

I wonder what the outcome of a pipe resin ran thru activated charcoal would be like.  I can not even smoke resin anymore.  I did in my more younger years but... that shit is yuck and i always ahve some smoke around i can puff on if neeeded.

damn im drunk i need to stop posting.

dude did u not look at my pics?

I know what im doing i have complete pictorials of extracting oil from stems and ive done it many times.

2nd wash below

That is made from only stems, nards of dank did somthing wrong. Or i made 3-4 grams of imaginary oil.

That is pretty decent oil too, its not all black and gunky like i a lot of oil pics i see(wash too long/still solvent left).

PF tek That was almost 7g dry i believe. Kreeper strain. Biggest shroom ive ever seen come off a cake.

That is really from all stems. Nards of dank makes some nice looken butane oil, but he did somthing wrong cuz there is definatly trichomes stuck to the stems of inside buds. Maybe he used plant growing stems. I could see them having no thricomes on them.
