found out what this mold ( or fungus apparently? ) is called. It's call Mucor. hmm...i'm not so sure what i had growing out of the coir was really mycelium now. there was this very yeasty / alcohol smell coming from it before too. oh well....i just threw eveyrthing outside. =/. i'm hoping this stuff doesn't contam some of my other casings. AHHHHHHH i hate competing fungi/molds!!!! have a nice day everyone =)

mucor is typically a black dotted mould... known as black pin mould and black bread mould... if it is like a layer of black dotted pins then it is sporulating so you will want to throw it before it spreads... some species (m.pusillus for ex.) are toxic! but the most common ones are not... however it could actually be a rhizopus (sp?) which is very similar (related to) except that it forms a vertically taller mat forest of black pins... collect some infected mycellium on bread and incubate it... if it sporulates on bread the same as on ur casing it is most lkely one of the above... sorry for the vague reply... ask some ppl in the know about specific details of these two moulds.. or get a copy of tmc! it is the bible for us mycologists later man...

nevermind. I looked for information about it and it appears that I don't have this. I hope everything goes well for you though. Good luck!
