Gatherings

How many have you been to?  Which ones?  Which ones do you plan on attending?  Do you have a favorite?  What moments stick out in your mind?  What Shroomerites have you met? 

I've been to Big Bear, 3 raves, 2 AZ Gatherings, OCF, and my own miserable failure, the NorCal Gathering.  Guess which one's my least favorite. :smirk:

My favorite was definitely the last AZ Gathering.  For the most part, each one has been better than the last.  I've met so many cool people.  At this point, I almost consider the AZ crew to be like family.  I've gotten along with just about every Shroomerite I've met.  There's been some minor conflict, but nothing too big.  The worst was with AmericaNightmare and Howardo, but we met under awkward circumstances, so it's to be expected.  There's sometimes tension between me and forty, and I know I probably get on adrug's nerves sometimes, but they're both cool people in my book.

I never fully get over the excitement of meeting someone finally after chatting with them on the Shroomery for so long.  Some people are exactly like you imagine, and others can completely surprise you.  People you didn't get along with before can become your best friend.  I remember at my first AZ Gathering, I was a little unsure about meeting Doobs, but he turned out to be a really awesome guy.  There's something about finally meeting someone face-to-face that changes the way you look at them.  Suddenly there's an actual person behind the screenname and text.  All the OTD drama goes out the window and you're confronted with their humanity.

I've met some really awesome Shroomerites.  40 holds it down with his rave toys and massive collection of electronic music.  Annie and oDin are the collest married couple ever!  They can out-party people half their age.  Freezy is just a totally awesome guy with a kickass personality.  Wrestler_az is hard not to like, with his great sense of humor and outgoing personality.  HB is probably the sweetest, nicest guy I've ever met.  Papaver is a real trippy guy with a lot of cool shit to say.  Psilygirl, adrug, and Lyena are three of the coolest girls I've ever met, and I'm sure the same will hold true for most of the Shroomerite girls I have yet to meet.  Vamp, TTS, taco, Muppet, Mistah_Maunistat, phase, Xibalba, spud, psycho_ki||er, geokills, Kremlin, Prisoner#1, kaiowas, Kevin, Calbha, dobie, Doobie, @cro, psyphon...the list goes on.  All awesome people who I've thoroughly enjoyed meeting.

I always get a little bit jealous when I hear of all the fun that happens at the gatherings. I find myself wishing I lived closer to everyone, I find myself kicking my own ass for not making a better effort.

there should be a eastern meeting......that would be cool....maybe a meet up at next years BurningMan ,i tey to go every year,thats about the only time i can get out west.......

As far as "official" Shroomery gatherings, I don't think I've ever been to one. But I have met quite a few Shroomerites in person...

Shroomism- fellow Aquarian alien kid who is into alot of the same shit I am, like a brother to me already, I wish I could help you out more down here in the 352, but I gotta get the fuck out! :crazy:
Debianlinux- Met you at a giant race track when I was suffering from sleep deprivation.. You have an awesome house and let me take a shower, thank god. Thanks alot bro. :smile: PS- Eastmans really IS a scary fuckin place. Me and Shroomism drove past it on the way out.
Prisoner#1- Your a very cool guy,taking us cave exploring and letting me leave my van at your place while we sojourned to NC. You also have alot of cats, and took care of mine while in ATL. I hope one day I can return the favors.
Jenny- Briefly met you while in Ohio... wish I coulda gotten to know you better. Your one of those people I automatically feel a spiritual kinship to... Hope to see you again in the future.
Ekstaza- Saw you at MagFest with your chill friend Sang(sp?), camped out right next to ya Saturday night while tripping fucking nuts in my van. Very cool dude, thanks for the hospitality my friend.
A3eyedfish- Also met at MagFest, didn't get to talk to you for long, but you were definately down with the vibe and I think I'll definately see you again at one of the upcoming Rainbow gatherings.
Illustrain- I think I met you briefly in the dark tripping at Mag, after your crazy incident involving U.C. pigs. Hope to see you again in the future!

... All of these folks were intelligent, open-minded, diverse & wonderful people! I look forward to meeting more Shroomerites in the future, and I definately plan on going to the Ohio gathering next year. :heart:

my 1st gathering was the New Years gahtering i planned at Hb's Ranch,
then the Magic Mountain gathering, then EDC gahtering, then Nocturnal gathering,
then the Big Bear gathering, a few smaller rave gatherings, then the Arizona
gathering, then the EDC gathering, thne the NorthEast Gathering,
then Nocturnal/bday/Venice Beach gathering, then the past AZ Gathering.

goddamn.

i had a blast at every gathering, each had its own feel to it.
there are quite a few moments that ill never forget, but i dont
want to write another essay :wink:


now to be competely honest, i stopped growing,
i dont post as much in otd as i used to, so getting to know
n00bs n such is getting harder for me as i grow slightly detached
from the web. its the awesome ppl ive met that make me want to stay here.

I havent been to one yet, but am planning on trying to make it to a bunch this summer, including the MW, NE, and Europe gatherings. Cant wait, they look like a blast. Cant wait to jam out on the guitar with some of you guys too. That will be sweet.

cool pics. i saw all those of the AZ in the travel forum. very cool. im thinking this spring im doing a road trip in western states, hopefully will be able to go to at least one in the fairly recent future. they look like a blast. jsut gotta make some cubbies in the car for the border.

are there any planed for mid/late spring/early summer?

Eh, I'm such a noob here.. 40, I envy you.  Your stories, your experiences with all the people you've met here, your gathering stories.. amazing.

I can't wait for summer to begin again (and it's the beginning of winter basically), so that I can set out on the road and meet up with some of you chill shroomerites.  Beejay I'm really lookin' forward to doing some jamming with you man.

Long live the Skinny white dude gang and our guitaring abilities.  Sometime we need to get together at a house and jam out with Shroomism on bass.

I'm planning on hitting NE2005 and hopefully Europe.  There's also that gathering in Canada in January or February or something so I might go meet Bom, Trendal, Gillette, and all the rest of the canadian gang.. I just wish I had enough weeks of vacation to go to every gathering because everyone I've talked to here seems like they're really unique people.

If I don't hit Europe, I'm going to either the AZ or MW gathering. :thumbup:  Regardless, I'm meeting some of you people this upcoming year...

I went to the zero hero gathering like a year ago

I only went cause he used to live like 2 minutes away from me, it was a blast though!
My favorite memory was doing laughing gas balloons with Effed on mescaline

I was gonna go to the Nelson Ledges gathering last year but BAAAD shit went down (a few days before the gathering)

anyways im probably not goin to any more

The Iowa gathering was fun; if small and a little cold and windy. We'll do it bigger and better next time. Iowa is a good central location for the Midwest.

yeah, the midwest gathering was fun; but it would have been cooler if more people had been there.

i have to say, shroomerites are some of the most diverse people i've ever had the pleasure of meeting. the midwest one had myself, two awesome hippies, a raver, an old timer (i'm not sure if he's an old timer actually, iluan does give off that party like we're at the dead vibe though! :wink:), and an irc nerd :smile: on our second night, after opening a bag of goodies from gratefulJ, i felt like we all had our place and it was just cool to know that you can bond with people you probably would have never met, had it not been for the shroomery. we had a good time, sitting around the fire and hiking for miles and miles.. i think the extended walk with gr8fulchick schooling us on mushroom identifcation while we were all high was the best part :grin:

the second midwest gathering should be fun - everyone who can, make sure you go!
