Forty three people arrested in drug bust

CALGARY -- Dozens of people are expected to be charged after an undercover sting by Mounties in several central Alberta communities.

The bust turned up a cache of weapons and 90-thousand dollars in drugs.

The seven-week investigation, which wrapped up Saturday, is the biggest of its kind in about two years.

Forty-three people, most of them residents of Red Deer, will be facing over 150 drug, proceeds-of-crime and weapons-related charges after sales were made to undercover police officers.

Among the drugs seized were 794 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine, 130 grams of methamphetamine, 956 grams of marijuana and 125 grams of magic mushrooms.

There were also undetermined amounts of MS Contin, also known as morphine sulfate, and Valium.

Two handguns, two shotguns, an assault rifle, explosives, vehicles and several bladed weapons were also confiscated.
