Lycaeum

Does anybody know what has happened to the lycaeum? I haven't been able to access it for about a week or so now.
It hasn't been shut down or anything, has it?

This is what occupant posted on their forums a few days ago, its seems they are more often down than up at the moment. guess their host isnt being too helpfull.

Hi all,

Our free ride at our current ISP is about to come to an end in 2-3 months. This means that we need new hosting! Our current setup is 3 FreeBSD boxes (although we have been planning to consolidate to 2 for a while now- this will give us a reason to finally do so), serving about 100,000 documents per day (but using heavy database load, especially on the hosted sites box *ahem*hive*ahem*). (2 boxes because the hosted sites are seperated from the main Lycaeum site, for performance, stability, security. We could go to a single box if needed but we consume lots of resources, so moving EVERYTHING off of at least one dedicated server is basically out of the question).

We need a SERIOUS volunteer to step forward and help us out. If we can't find hosting, Erowid has agreed to host a snapshot of the archives, but unfortunately the community aspects of the Lycaeum would cease to exist. Again, I stress-- SERIOUS volunteers only. This is a long-term commitment, and certainly not a trivial task. It will require many hours of work and years of long-term dedication to the psychedelic values that have brought us together in the first place. Offers to host on someone's Cable modem or DSL link are appreciated but we do need a more reliable link than this. At least a T1, please.

The servers are currently physically located in Seattle, Washington, USA, and the main site operator (me) is in the San Francisco bay area, so something close to one of these locations is greatly preferred.

We recently had our 5th birthday here (yay!), please help us have many more. If ever the Lycaeum was in a time of need, this is it. Please help!

Hosted sites should start making contingency plans in case we can not find hosting. News will be posted here as it develops.
