MP3 editing software?
    #323735 - 05/22/01 08:28 PM (23 years, 4 months ago)

Does anyone know of any good MP3 editing software that I can download (freeware). I need to create and edit MP3 files. In particular I would like the ability to splice together files to make larger ones and split them apart into seperate files. And a few cool editing features would be nice. I just thought I would try to find some freebies before I go out and buy a program to do it.

Check out AtomixMP3 on cnet.com I think it would work perfectly. It's a really sweet program. Whenever I record something with it the file is always a wav for some reason though.

JeeLiX - There are .wav to .mp3 convertors and vice versa.

Maybe look into cool edit. I've never used the shareware version, so I don't know how crippled it is. Most of the basic functions that you need should be intact. www.download.com has it. Sound Forge is another good one (from Sonic Foundry -- yay Wisconsin). They have a demo version too so give both a try.
Either way you'll have to convert your mp3 to wav format. If you have winamp go into the output options menu and switch it to disk writer mode, when you hit play it'll convert your mp3 to a wav silently.
