My Current State of Mind
    #3214952 - 10/04/04 05:18 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

Summary: Not Good.

It seems that my life is the poster child for loneliness and apathy. I have no friends, but I don't take the initiative to actively seek them out. I feel sick constantlt, but don't go to the doctor. My insomnia is slowly killing both my health and mood, but I have no idea what to do about it.

I'm going into a career which I don't want to do, but know I will prosper in. I have no idea what I want to do with my life, but it seems I'm not even trying to figure it out. I've lost contact with almost all my best friends from high school, and realize that they aren't my friends anymore. I'm almost a quarter of the way through my life, and I haven't seriously accomplished anything or affected anyone's life.

I just need to get up and leave, but unfortunately school, money owed, and other various things are holding me down. I just seem to be wandering without doing anythign whatsoever.

I could pawn this off as youthful angst, but I have a feeling it is so much more than that. There has to be something out there for me, but I jsut have no idea what it is.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

That was my journal entry for today. I just wanted to let anyone who feels lost in life to know that they're not alone.

I think that those feelings are normal for your age bro!

It's not unusual to break away from the friends of your childhood either.

I'm sure you'll be fine, and it's not too late to change your career either, it's important to like what you do for a living in life because your going to be doing it for a very long time.

Well, the only thing problem is that my Dad is paying for my college, so I don't to be a slackass and wait forever to graduate and get my degree, so I kinda just took an easy route out.

I can't move. I'm in the middle of a school year, and there are people (rather, 1 person) I can't leave behind.

I am feeling pretty much the same way right now.

I decided to stay back at high school for an extra year. Only a couple of my friends stayed back, and to be honest they're not very good friends (I hate one of them, and I am trying to distance myself from him..) I'm usually quiet and I make no effort to make new friends.

I'm 18 now but I don't really feel like it. I'm not really sure of the direction my life is taking. Like you I'm heading towards something right now that I'm not sure I want to do, but I'd probably be successful at.

I've also been a bit depressed and I'm always tired (even though I get lots of sleep).

I'm not sure how this would help, but I guess it goes to show that you're not alone and that it's pretty common around this age to be confused and unsure of where your life is going. Remember there's no rush.. You can take some time off and re-evaluate what you want to do. I don't know your situation, but your career path probably isn't set in stone.. Doing something you enjoy is probably more important than money.

Don't worry man, your just going through another down in the cycle of life. Things will be better again, and then maybe worse after that, but the point is life goes on!! It is a rythm, and sometimes you will not like the place where you are at but remember, things ALWAYS change, and before you know it, you will be at another point in our life where you are making progress to knowing about yourself.

I am currently doing an extra year of high school and I have no idea what I want to do after. I am not concered about this, but I do know that I may be kicking my ass own in the near future.

I haven't looked into anything seriously, and i'm only relying on friends and family to get me somewhere. This is simply because I am so lazy!

I'm not going to university, maybe college if I feel liek trying but like you I don't have the drive for this type of thing.

I have friends that I love and trust, and that is something that makes me feel good. Why don't you just talk to people and find out which ones laugh at the jokes you make and seem to agree with the type of things you say?

Right now I am kind of lazy and haven't been doing as good as I had recently. I haven't been to the gym in about a month. I am however satisfied with the shape I am in physically so the drive to go to the gym has seemed to deminish a good amount.

Why don't you try getting a membership to your local gym? If you start working out you will find you have alot more energy, confidence, and simply feel better about yourself. I guarantee you will start feeling better if YOU just get up and do something FOR YOURSELF!!

that's definitely not 'normal for your age'

seems to me you have problems, but *won't* fix them.

Nope, no job. My school schedule is all over the place; some mornings, some nights. No one will hire me.

I know I don't have to talk to anybody, but it was exactly the same thing last year, and I dunno how much longer I can last as a hermit. I'm not the party type or anything easier, so its kinda tough to be socially active.

like Blinkidiot said; exercise is so key. It'll help get you going in all areas of your life.  Also, it really is important to eat healthy food so you can get the energy to exercise.  If you are eating junk food, no wonder you are unhealthy and tired and have insomnia.  You need to take care of yourself, because you are worth it and no one else is going to do it for you.

And this one sucks, I know, but:  try to stay away from the computer.  Just turn it off and you will get bored enough to go out and do real things and maybe even make friends with people you can see and hear.  I know that sounds harsh but it's true!  Of course we are here for you, and we are real too, but as you know, flesh and blood friendship is very important.

Good luck, you are a great person and a talented writer, keep it up! Namaste!

Thank all of you guys. I'll take what you guys said to heart, and maybe some changes will help.

I have irritable bowel syndrome, so almost everything seems to make me sick when I eat it. I'll have to start exercising for sure.

You guys are great!!
