13. What are the best ways for me to injest mushrooms and what are the differences between the different methods of injestion?

Different ways to injest mushrooms and commentaries on each would be nice.

Let's see... different ways to injest...

Straight dry
Straight fresh
Blended in OJ
Tea (which flavors and why?)
On food?
Chocolate?
Extracted psylocybin?

Anything else?

What is your favorite way to injest shrooms and why?

hmmm.. last night I ate a few grams straight and dry. But I kinda munched on them like I was chewing pieces of gum. I like that way because after about 15 minutes or so I was done eating and 20 minutes later I started coming up. I've eaten them on pizza, with peanut butter, in sandwiches, with oj, and straight wet. I liked eating them dry the best. It reminds me that Im about to have an experience. If I taste only peanut butter when I eat them I think it takes alot out of the experience. It's kinda like never knowing what a lemon tastes like even though you know the effects. Your mind, IMO, realizes that taste and associates it with the previous experiences.
Peanut butter was good too alot of chewing. Too much work with cotton mouth. The sandwich worked well just had to cut up the shrooms. I think using dry ones would have been difficult, semi wet ones are probobly ideal. On pizza was great. but I added the semi wet mushrooms after the pizza was cooked, worked out much better. Straight off the cake or casing, wet, slimey, to tell the truth it gave me the hebbies. Oddly enough I've tried them with oj but I kinda dunked them. I should have put 'em in a coffee grinder or something and mashed 'em up and mixin 'em up in the oj.

so I gueess my fav is straight dry!

I usually consume them in tea form.

I grind (or dice/chop?) up my dried mushroom dose. The smaller you get the pieces, the better (more surface area = easier extraction, I would think..).

Boil some water and then pour the recently-boiling water into a container with the mushrooms. Mix it around a bit and let it extract for about 15-20 minutes (maybe doesn't take this long but I'm not going to test that :wink:).

Then strain it out, discard the mulch (if you're really paranoid about not getting ALL of it from the extraction then you can consume them (I don't though - the reason I do tea is because I don't much prefer the taste of the mushroom and this method of consumption is very simple - DRINK)).

I usually add some ice and then just drink away.

The trip with tea seems to hit quite a bit faster (which can make it seem stronger) and doesn't seem to last as long as when one just eats them dry. I think this is because your stomache does not have to break up chunks of mushroom and grind away..

Anyway, this is my favorite method of consumption as of now. Have a happy tea party, but keep it safe!!

I have a favorite tea recipe too.

Tea is great, but I'm becoming a fan of oj too... depends on the situation. Tea is by far my favorite travel drink!

try mixing ground shrooms up in half a bottle of (snapple or whatever) iced tea or juice.

done a lot of other methods of ingestion, but here is the one that i find is the most appetizing. Grind mushrooms into as fine a powder as possible (i have a trez cool mortar and pestle bought specific for the purpose), and stir into your favorite Dairy Queen blizzard. Getting the sugar in with the mushrooms will greatly reduce the assimiliation time of the compounds (gets the guts going if you know what i mean). i have started journeying a mere 15 mins. after downing one of these.

To tell the truth, just about every method is find with me (pretty much done them all) so long as I can have a fairly accurate estimation of dosage. I did, however find that fresh was more tasty than dried, but that is probably a personal thing.

I just try to imagine they are mushroom flavored french fries.

I usually drink some grapefruit juice with it too. I read somewhere that it blocks an enzyme somewhere so that you don't break down chemicals fast and you can get a long trip. I'm not sure if it works with mushrooms but my trips usually last longer than all my friends.

Anyone know if there is truth to that? Could be something to add onto a faq

I dry my shrooms out then grind em into a powder and put em on peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. Takes a lil while to kick in but I dont taste the shrooms at all this way.

Ground shrooms are great but if you grind, know that they may lose more potency when stored. Grinding shrooms allows for more oxidation, which allows for potency loss. Be sure they are freshly ground.

i usually eat them with a cracker and some juice chaser or something but i'd like to get more into laying some shrooms out on a pizza, or mixed in with a little bit of pasta or something. i'm not really too worried about how long it takes to start feeling the effects.

hmmm, i guess i like dry shrooms best, whole, not ground. i don't like the taste of mushrooms so fresh turns me off...although not bad blended up in a smoothie...which hits VERY hard btw.

I usually eat them directly off the the land... I live in the country on a large pasture with a pond and some lightly wooded areas... It's great to go and chill by the pond on them.

i've only done them once, but my firend and i tried eating some plain dired, on bread, and with a cookie. The cookie was prob. the easiest, didn't really taste anything but the cookie. I wouldn't recomend the shroom sandwhich though because it seemed to take forever to chew.

Besides, we don't eat the mushrooms for their taste now do we?

I like to grind them and store them in capsules.  I've takes caps 6 months later, that were just as potent as the day I made them.  You don't have to eat them, or taste them, or eat them with another food.  I find that eating food beforehand decreases the intensity of the trip as well as increases the come on time... just my .02... :stoned:
