I've got two or three copies of the "she don't use jelly" promo CD single from the old days part-timing at KRXX radio station. Even though it was a "clean" song, the GM was too uptight to let us play it...though it did "sneak" on several times in the wee hours of the morning. Only ever heard maybe one other song from them, too bad it didn't fly. They came out right in the middle of the end of the grunge rock days...not the best time for any band to make their break.

Actually, if you do a little investigating into Flaming Lips' history... They have been around WAY longer than grunge... The first Flaming Lips albums (Hear it Is, Oh My Gawd. etc...) came out in the mid 80's... That song you are talking about came out like 10 years after their first album, it's just the only song that most people have ever heard by them... And actually that song isn't even remotely similar to some of the stuff in their early days.. Get on Napster, or go to a record store, and check out 'Oh My Gawd, It's The Flaming Lips'.. particularly the songs 'Prescription Love' and 'The Ceiling is Bending' (both good acid songs by the way... !).. Just wanted to let people know, because back in the beginning, they were a really ass-kicking fuzz-rock trash psychedelia pop weirdo shit band...
