I did it guys.
They read 2 of my questions:
To 2 candidates: Would you be open to allowing access to psychedelic drugs like magic mushrooms and LSD to treat depression, anxiety and PTSD?
Candidate A: Blabbed about maybe legalizing marijuana if there is clinical evidence it helps. Didn't talk about shrooms or LSD.
Candidate B: "You said LSD? I think people should get back to work" (scattered applause in the audience".
And then later I had another question read to a candidate: Would you legalize marijuana for medical use? She said she looked into in 2014, but recently looked into it again and because of how it turned out in Florida and Colorado, she doesn't support it. But she said she supports other natural remedies and she makes her own tinctures.
After the questions, some candidates got to stay in the lobby and I talked to whoever I could and most of the reps and senators I talked to were open to drug reform.
I talked to the sheriff and he said he personally believes a drugs laws should change, but said he just enforces the law, he doesn't write it. I pressed him on that because he has a lot of discretion over how the laws are enforced. He also said something about a case of someone who got lost after doing shrooms in the forest.
I also talked with candidate B from earlier, and he said he isn't necessarily against legal marijuana with lots of guard rails but is against legal LSD. He thought it was like battery acid. I told him it's like shrooms, but then someone else cut me off before I could elaborate.
