It is illegal to claim you're an attorney or lawyer if you are not, and all she is, is a law graduate.

That's false.  A lawyer is someone who has studied the law.  An attorney is someone who is authorized to represent someone else in court.  She graduated law school.  She's a lawyer.

Now, having said the above, I don't know how anyone who graduated Pepperdine with honors fails the bar.

There's no law against giving legal advice.  It's just that if you hold yourself out as an attorney and give legal advice when you're not an attorney, that's illegal.  If you don't claim to be an attorney, you can give all the legal advice you want.

There is nothing wrong with impersonating an attorney, fireman, cop, president, whatever, as long as you don't do it in an attempt to deceive people into taking some action based on your perceived profession.  In general, lying isn't illegal.  Lying to get something from someone can be.
