All we need to do is see if it can pass the role reversal test. If a guy tells his GF he going to go out for dinner with a girl he fooled around with but she is a lesbian now, how will that be received? Then they need to change locations at the last second to the other side of town? I don't know many women who would be okay with that.

His girlfriend never said they fooled around in high school. That was just something that I thought.

What's the point of testing someone just to be passive aggressive about something when all you really need to do is just ask her the specifics of their friendship? And why don't you literally ask them if they had any kind of sexual contact in high school? That might clear the air but nobody wants to communicate nowadays.

You're right, all he had to do was just go the extra distance he hadn't prepared for, to then be late and possibly completely miss them. If his wife was serious about introducing them and being above board, she wouldn't switch the location to somewhere far. She would go "oh we should choose a location close by as my husband is joining us and if we change to a location far for him to travel he likely won't be able to attend. My marriage is important to me and I dont want to ask my partner to have to travel a long way to be able to join us."

But she didn't, she waited until he was just leaving (which almost guarantees he won't make it in time) to inform him of the new location. Sus. She doesn't care if they meet which is telling in and of itself.

There are definitely levels of paranoia etc that are unhealthy. This ain't it. This looks like manipulation and lies to me. Even if she isn't cheating and this innocent, she certainly doesn't care much to be able to include him. If she really wanted him there she would have made it possible for him to attend. Acting like changing the location of venue to somewhere far at the last second is not indicative of her wanting him to be included. It is indicative of her not wanting him around while being able to maintain her plausible denyability.

The only way to get to the bottom of this is to confront her head on.

Agreed. It’s hard to be direct but there is no other way. Not saying anything will just cause shit to fester.

Unless he's dating someone with an intellectual disability she knows how it looks and doesn't care. Women are just as mentally capable as men and considered more empathetic so even if nothing happened between them the whole event was still deliberately engineered as a humiliation ritual/test.

The relationship is over, he needs to put himself back out there and extricate himself once he's found someone who respects his intelligence and the relationship. Engineering anxieties in your partner is abusive. Doesn't matter if it's constant snide comments about their body or intelligence or creating situations in which they feel emotionally unsafe.
This qualifies.
You don't "get to the bottom" of that. You leave.

Even is op is just being paranoid then he should  still leave as he will become toxic. Again divorce is cheaper and healthier then a assault charge and physically damaging either of them.
