Hahah. My dad wouldn't abandon his kids but he may abandon a date lol

Funny you say that. I took a date on a forage once. Had to keep him though because I took him home for sex lol 😂

So why didn't you keep him. He sounds fun?

Oh he was. Absolutely beautiful inside and out. But he was/is in the non monog space and he also has ADHD pretty bad so was bad at replying to my messages. I have wanted to message him again but I lost his number.

I guess im kind of a loner in a sense, while I have friends, I don't really want to pursue a monogamous relationship anytime soon, last one of two years was ended in 2017 and it was toxic AF.
Im a gay dude, so sex is pretty easy to take care of, open up an app, swap some pics and bingo. I do have a few regular/ repeat hookup buddies but its mutually understood that no strings are involved,  sometimes I long for something more but I worry Id miss my freedom I currently enjoy. If I want to go spend the weekend out kayak fishing, no one is there to tell me I cant because they want us to go do x, y, z thing together. I like to make my own schedule, not be required to follow someoneelse's.
Im happy, thats all that matters for today.

Yeah single freedom rules
I feel quite similar as to you Corey in that realistically if I wanted a hook up it would be easy to organis, because I'm female.

But fuck it. I love single life and I don't even know if I like sex (180 turn from last year haha)

I'm single.

Came out of a toxic 10 year relationship a couple of years ago, which is a good thing.

Had a couple of hook ups, one old flame and one random over the last two years.

IDK what happened, but I used to meet women quite readily on the apps and enjoyed that, but it seems the whole world changed during the years of my relationship.

I'm okay looking and in good shape, but women don't seem to even look at me much anymore. Not sure what's changed there. Maybe it's the whole world, maybe it's an aura I give off nowadays?

Lonely as fuck and I hate it. I try to kid myself as so many people say they find peace like this. I'm bored and feel like I'm just wasting away.

So your saying you need to be social and have a relationship to feel complete.  That's not very feminists of you.

But yes, you are wasting away just know society has changed and it does want you to die alone.

Sorry that sounded mean. Dont just go through flings like candy.  Yes relationships get stale and boring too over time but stable living is useful for survivability.

I think the truth in life is to find your truth. Worry not what everyone else wants. Worry what you want.

I didn't take it as mean - all good.

I've done all my flinging: flung far and wide and I'm not looking for that now, I just want someone special to share my time with.

It is just confusing to me how much everything has changed whilst I was preoccupied.

If I'm honest, I think part of my dilemma is I've spent my whole life worried about what I want.

This is a bigger subject than dating though; it applies to everything in my life; seeking wealth, possessions and satisfaction I've come to find is ultimately empty.

We were sold a lie.

IDK how old you are, but I wonder if what we've describe is the start of a mid-life crisis? We work hard, do as we're told (largely, anyway), still feel empty / conned and so have to start asking deeper questions?

On further reflection, I'll refine what I said in my previous post a little:

I have spent my entire life worrying about what I was told I should worry about (money, women etc) under the illusion that it'll bring happiness.

Maybe now I've had this realisation, I'm struggling because I understand I was not who I thought I was - it takes a lot of time, thinking but ultimately pain to learn the hardest lessons it seems.

I feel the exact same to what you've said here.

I'm 31. I don't think it's a midlife crisis for me as I've felt this way forever. Being autistic has made me compare myself a lot to others and always try to beat them, because I could never really tell through others if I was good enough. (That's my interpretation for me anyway)

So I've decided given I don't understand anyone else, I'm just gonna understand myself. And chasing dreams that aren't mine haven't helped me. Theyve made me "successful" in some ventures (friends, study) but made me burn out in other ventures (work).

Sound like you lives in the US, Canada, or Australia. Have you thought abt moving to a more open minded town, state or county?

I am in my late 30s. Moved to Vegas years ago. Trust me you are still very young. Assuming Eng is your first languages. You should tried it out. Eng is my fifth language. I am glad with my decision. California is such a horrible place now.

Always been a loner.
Had enough to deal with my own head until pretty recently. Getting into dating has been really rough - being demisexual with something like audhd (never diagnosed but I've been seeing this pattern pretty strong) just seems to narrow the potential dating pool insanely. Apps never brought a single good experience. Lots to learn about relationships and myself, which should have been learned much earlier in life, optimally.

I try to be happy that I can find good times by myself and have plenty of great friends to be with. But the contrast of how well I do with people and get great feedback all the time, yet seem to never find a woman to be with is painful. Anyway been trying to talk about all this more openly as I usually keep my worries to myself. Nice to hear other neurodivergent perspectives especially.

I have been trying Tinder with no luck for almost a year. There are significantly more men than women on there, making it harder to match with someone. I have no idea if my profile is even being seen. I have liked plenty of profiles, but with no luck.
