Seeking advice on treating depression * 1
    #29246760 -

Had a trip about four weeks ago now, totaled around 3.5g of Natalensis Super Strain; spent 4 hours having insane revelations and another 4 on an insanely smooth comedown. I hadn't noticed until about two or three weeks after the fact, but my depression had gone completely. I was being productive, I was a nicer person overall, I wasn't on a hair trigger all the time, the benefits were substantial.

Now, four weeks after this experience I can see what's on the horizon if I don't have another trip and it doesn't look good. I'm for sure not in the throes of depression, but my productivity has dipped and my bad habits are finding their ways back into my life which I'm taking as the first few signs that a bigger problem is brewing.

I would like to be able to dose out some mushrooms on a regular basis to avoid this, but I'm not sure I want a full on 8 hour emotion-heavy trip like I had the first time once every month. I was thinking of getting some NSS, grinding them up, and taking them in pill form once every day at about 0.2g per pill; would that be viable? Or maybe a gram every four or five days? I know this stuff is super experimental and new, but I cannot over-exaggerate how bitchin' my life becomes the second my month isn't being ruined because I got some bad news and I'm taking steps to better my life and thinking more of the future.

Anyway, tips or advice heavily appreciated.

Who is the master of your mind? What is in control?

Discover that and pursue it

Classic existentialism, you are nothing. What does all your pain grief and suffering along your little wrinkle in time mean? Nothing at all. You came from dust, you will return to dust. From all it came, and to all it shall return, and if there is not all, there is nothing.

Make a choice. Do something. Activity keeps us alive. Those who have nothing to live for, feel content and complete, die. it is statistically true. Our time is not infinite. Don't forget it. Don't. Stop. Dancing.

What is the source of your suffering? Stoo doing that.

Don't hold back - annihilate it

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0c/5b/63/0c5b63ca431d68d0ede6154bd996c9f8.gif

Yes - I mean you - do your remember how you came to be? In fact, there's consistently all sorts of gaps in the continuity of our perception. Total illusion. Annihilate it. Give it up.

That's the root of the spiritual practice, regardless of your ultimate outlook - a practice, preparation for the inevitable final moment - facing the hard, only firm truth there is square on and finding your peace with it.

The mind is like recurring loop. Like a pavlovian dog, a (not necessarily) markovian chain. Turn your thoughts into what you want them to be. Repeation legitimizes. Reinforce with repetition. Hypnotize yourself.

The possibilities....

Take your time and prepare. When the time comes, do as you have been doing to let go to the unknown. Surrender. Let yourwelf be possessed and controlled by what's beyond. If you go through all the steps, what's there to be afraid of, not to trust? Surrender and obey the flow and let yourself be reprogrammed into your image of the best you. Don't resist the change. We all fear it. It's okay, just relax and let go.

I've always felt like the big emotional trips were important for me to truly learn, it's like going to therapy while microdosing is like taking antidepressants. But it's much better to space your trips out further than a week, so you can take the time to learn from them.

What I used to do a few years ago was 1 real trip every 4-6 weeks, minimum 7-10 days to recover (more, if the mood benefits were long lasting), then a subperceptual microdose on a 2-2-3 model (dose on Monday-Wednesday-Friday only) until the next big trip. 0.2g is too much for me, makes me feel weird and on edge. 0.1-0.15g is way enough, but it could be different for you. Point is, you want the clear mind and light euphoria, not the body high.

It worked well for about a year and a half, then shit hit the fan and I had diminishing returns, so I took a 3 years break to integrate and stabilise my situation. I'm ready to start on this protocol again soon, and pretty hyped for it.

I certainly learned a thing or two from that experience, have done my best to enact that stuff into my daily life but of course as the weeks go on I find it easier to slip into things that I suppose I never thought to deal with.

Your format honestly seems like a good way to go, though I was thinking of skimping out on big doses unless I explicitly want to have a proper learning experience and just stick to regular microdoses akin to taking your meds a few times a week.

Not being depressed has been a genuinely life changing learning experience of what life can be when every single day doesn't feel like it burned down and replaced the day before it, everything feels connective and my days flow into eachother like never before.

Having never really suffered from depression I always find it difficult to understand it to be honest.

Ive had depressive moments due to life events but I quickly overcame the emotional turmoil and grew from the experience.

The same applies to hard mushroom messages, learn from the experience and integrate the knowledge.

This video explains it well.

You need to consider the use of a substance won't bring you inner peace or happiness,  it's probably best you work on the root of the issue as White Rose said, rather integrate the knowledge gained and focus on healing.

I honestly would recommend spacing them out and not skimping on them entirely, but you don't need to do it as often as I do. Once or twice a year might be enough if you don't carry trauma.

The reason I'm saying this is, aside from individual chemical imbalances, depression is a disease of the mind. It's there because something is gnawing at you from the inside. This gnawing can be ignored for a while but it'll never go entirely away until you identify the root cause and face it for what it is.

Think of it like patching cracks & potholes in a street. You can do quick fix repair work easily for normal wear, but if you don't address how winter destroys cheap coverings you're gonna have to repair that same crack over and over again, every single year, until one day the damage will be so extensive you'll have to redo the entire street. Your mind is the same.

But yeah microdoses alone work well if you're just trying to stabilise your situation. Or at least it will work for a while until it doesn't anymore, and then you'll know what to do :mushroom2:

Micro is more like 0.1g, even less depending on how strong the mushrooms are. Every other day is good.  Every day can cause VHD (only an issue with chronic, daily dosing).

As far as depression, notice what brings you joy on the days you dose.  Rather, that's a micro or a macro.  And nurture it every chance you can.

There's no one size fits all approach.  Because joy is the joy of being you, and sharing yourself with other joyful people.  And we tend to be quite alienated in Western societies, from ourselves and each other.

For me it's 90% a chemical imbalance. I've inherited some horrible stuff from my mother - which she's apologized for which is odd and I always let her know she doesn't need to. In actuality, my daily life is only depressing because of this imbalance that I'm at the whims of and which seeks to perpetuate itself, as all mental illnesses do.

There probably are some internal malefactors I'm neglecting or haven't dealt with yet, but I suppose that can only be faced with another large dose which I plan on imbibing within the next two weeks or so.

I just woke up literally 15 minutes ago so forgive me if this is all over the place lol, but the idea of taking small doses to buy time in a life of non-depression until I need to face things head on with a large dose does sound appealing. I may return to edit this reply when my faculties are all back online lol but yeah I appreciate the response highly and will take your words with grace into consideration.

I am well versed in the alienation we face in modern Western society be-lieve you me haha, so far I've found that I like generally to do things in and around my town, clean up and organize my living space as to fit some nice standard or aesthetic - comfortable space for reading, relaxing, screens only in certain places like I'm trying to quarantine a possessed little girl.

What makes this stuff harder to maintain is when the monkey is on my back in full, I don't get up, a minor setback occurs that ruins my entire day and alters my behavior, I go weeks without actually doing anything and am physically incapable of even trying which I'm confident in saying because it's been by my side since I was in middle school. Sometimes a spot of hypomania will hit me for a week or more and I'll have a little more will to do stuff, but it's not long before I walk in, see some project I've started which has left my room a mess, and get tossed back into the pit for another few weeks. Some weeks I feel somewhat normal though which are refreshing but still colored a dower grey hue.

Perhaps I bear my heart too much to internet strangers but it's the only way I know how to get across how this stuff has positively impacted my life. Walking into my room during a major cleanup project and having that singular pause before the usual depressive thought being replaced with "Welp, better get back to it" felt like I was in an episode of the twilight zone where everything had gone topsy turvy, it was surreal.

Buying time is fine, man. It's what I call "stabilising". You need mental energy to face the big stuff anyway, you can't do that when your baseline is subzero.

If your mother also has chronic depression, beyond chemical imbalances which you certainly do have, you've also grown up absorbing her experiences into your own. Even without abuse, just being raised in an environment where you witness a parent struggling to reach happiness can be enough for you to form a belief that happiness isn't something that comes easy, and can make it feel elusive where someone else would look at what you have and wonder why. Generational impact, nobody is at fault, but also nobody is an island lol.

Wishing you the best of luck battling this shitty disease :mushroom2:

I can certainly relate to the depression and anxiety cycle.  Mine is more like run until I'm exhausted, and then get depressed for a few days until I recover enough to run again.

Habits are hard to change.  But focusing on my joy has been nurturing all the same.

I really appreciate these words of advice and encouragement from you, Dive and Tree Frog, focusing and nurturing my joy will certainly be a hurdle to overcome but I'm certain I can achieve that in my own time. For now, will probably try large doses and then ease into small anti-depressant style doses about a month or so after the initial big dose and play it by ear from there based on how my mind and body seem to respond to that.

These replies have been of great help, thanks again.

Glad you found the replies helpful. Focusing on the things that bring you some genuine joy sounds like a good place to start, and hopefully you keep building on that progress.
