Could anyone tell me why my TTBVIs look so…gourmet? I thought pans usually looked a lot more glossy and translucent? Anyone have any insight? Spawned 15 days ago, cased 7 days ago.

I thought I read somewhere you suggested 90-80 RH cycle? What is the current consensus on cycle min/max and times left at min/max?

Do they even bruise blue?  Those do not appear to be pan cyans.

Yeah, watch the casing rather than the sensor.  If the casing stays damp, the pins will be fine.  But this is why I prefer a timer rather then relying on the rH to control the fog.  Plus most sensors aren't very accurate above 90.

@Jack, I was doing regular pf tek cakes.  So they get a long soak before fruiting to hydrate.

I'm not sure that the same is done with the pan cakes tek.  But if the cake has shrunk a lot, I probably would.

thank youuuu... and btw, I stopped using humidistats also... timers work better for me.

After watching carefully my fogger seems to work for 5 minutes to go from 93% to 97% then about 1 hour to go back down to 93%.

Seems pretty good, a bit similar to the official tree frog timer  schedule but for a pretty small tub

That was a suggestion for pin setting given the context of the inkbird timer.  For pins I really suggest a timer and keeping the casing damp.

Between 80 and 90 is good for cap development, but casings will dry out faster.

As we've been discussing, humidistats are best as a gauge.  And even if all of ours were calibrated the same, temperature, light, and air exchange all effect evaporation rates.

Plus genetics can change optimal ranges for everything.  For example, I have varieties that like it better in the low 70s.  Which changes evaporation rates.

So ultimately, cap development and damp casing is the gauge.  And those factors somewhat compete with each other, but thankfully the casing doesn't need to stay damp once they are fruiting well.

Good to see you too fam!

Awesome!  What do you have going in the yard?

bisporus, msa, Bbar, and India.  saved a bit of each spawn for indoor trays also and everything but the msa has been fruiting or cased already.

I started some old Oregon or maybe liquid amber from LI (I didn't label the jars) outside.  And have a few more jars of likely another 'not trop' based on early microscopy going that I'll probably run outside.

And definitely want to get some India out there too!  Shaping up to be a good summer for growing

looking forward to the photography, hope you have a fruitful season!

This was cool though, made a homemade version of this weed soil some of my friends are using called bioflower (peat, coir, biochar, perlite 4:4:1:1).  I dosed it with Mojave nutes for minerals and npk.  And split a grain jar with a Mojave CV+ control.  Controlled for conditione etc.

The experimental sub pinned a couple of days ago.  Quite a few side pins, decent second flush coming in on top though, and no bottom pins anyway.  This is the likely not trop.

The control hasn't pinned.

will this sub mix be for your outdoor grows also?

Don't take the timers to be prescriptive either.

This is a pretty good casing photo, it was behind the bioflower but appears to be knotting today.  You can see tiny beads of moisture on it.

Likely yeah, but I have one bed now that's coir, verm, and block kow because I wanted a shortcut.  Since it's outside I didn't bother pasteurizing it 🤷‍♀️

But I will with the mix.

Good to see ya TF

Finally got some decent morphology on this 4th flush of baccy bvi

Upgraded to 2 gal bags instead of the 1.5.  Wish I had done it sooner.  A lot more headroom with even a couple inches bigger bag.  Even these super long Vietnam have some more room to grow

Looking good! Do you mist the inside of the bag? It dries up here once a day so I try to mist the bag (not the pins/substrate) but I think I over did it and made some pins abort.

Weird dealing with pins aborting from non direct misting after running mexicanas and ingelis

I only mist the casing between flushes, otherwise I just let em do their thing.  Do you have some sort of fan in a cycle timer?  The inside of my bags arent all that wet.  Do you have some sort of rh sensor to check the humidity in the bag? Condensation only happens when there’s a temp difference inside and out.  If it’s close to the same temp outside, you won’t get condensation or at least a lot of it but it’s still high rh inside

I have a ceiling fan that's on 24/7 cause of the summer heat atm. I put some fae holes with a toothpick and a couple slightly bigger ones like in your post. No RH sensors sadly

Also this tray in my dreamer has a singular pin. Guess ill stop misting both of them and let them do their own thing

Also just cased 3 pan cyan trays and 1 ingeli. Got 3 spaces in my dreamer tubs so about to create another bag fruiting chamber haha. Thanks for the shout!

Nice Lentinus (most likely)! What a happy accident, at least it isn't Schizophyllum or something

Ms frog what do you think is the ideal temp for ttbvi pinning and also fruiting.

I have an inkbird temp sensor and a seed heating pad for my dreamer now

They will fruit in the low 70s, they'll just be a bit slower and the caps likely more domed rather than flat.

They'll also fruit well above 80f.  But the higher the temperature the more likely contamination or excessive evaporation will be an issue.

I like to split the difference and set 77 or 78 as the top end.  But depending on the ambient temperature, it may not get much over 74 or 75f.
