Yeah it will definitely work for those.

Which size depends on how much growth I have on my plates and how many jars I want to do from it.

But you can see from this 90 mm plate, I inoculated four different cultures into four separate jars, and used  large wedges.

You can use larger or smaller wedges, depending on your needs and how many jars you plan to do.

Cool, planning on using pint jars. I have 3 plates going now, so probably do six jars or maybe 9 jars. Use a little for the new plates. I will keep the post, posted with progress. Thanks again

Same substrate but twice the amount of sub.

I'm running these unmodified I will just loosen a little bit if I need too.

Oh.. reminds me.  Lid loose and wrapped in foil.  Four can fit on top of seven half pint jars, which uses the same amount of prep in the OP (four cups sub, two cups grain measured dry but hydrated as appropriate).

Are you just opening the jar, dropping those slices on top, closing the lid, and then shaking the jar?

I put each of those in four separate jars.

I will shake at 20-30%.  And then allow the jar to consolidate from there.

Essentially, it works like a grain jar.  However you like to do grain jars will work.

But I like to do one shake with these so the colony can consolidate as it colonizes.

This is an extreme example, and cased grain rather than AIO, but given time the colony will build branches.

A couple of casing photos.

12 hours after casing.  Note that the substrate is barely visible under the chunky casing.

Casing this morning (48 hours after casing).

Those are a bit dry so I gave them a touch of water.  Now they look like this.

And these should knot today or tomorrow.  If they do, I won't water again until after the first flush.

What is your casing recipe and prep?

2:1 peat:calcium carbonate by dry weight.  And a handful of worm castings per qt of dry peat.  The castings are optional but I think the mushrooms like it.

I mix that all together dry, and remove about a qt.  Add filtered water until the mix is saturated (dry peat can be hydrophobic), and then add the set aside qt of dry mix to bring things down to field capacity.

I load the mix into a unicorn bag, and put in my InstaPot on keep warm to pasteurize.  I don't check the temperature, but let it sit in there for four+ hours (overnight is fine even, but I generally do cult in the morning).

Do you have a target pH for your casing?

Between 7.5 and 8.5.

Though I stopped measuring after switching to calcium carbonate, as it is a lot more forgiving on the high end then calcium hydroxide.

Three days after casing the faster cyan strain knotted.

I use a little bit different strategy with some of the other species.  And will update when I case bisporus.

Do you add water and the bag to the Instapot and cover with the lid or just put the bag in Instapot dry and cover with lid?

I add some water.  Not so much it can get into the bag, but enough that the bottom plastic isn't in dry heat that close to the heating element.

Great post as usual TF. I'd like to ask you how jar size influences things?
Right now I can either get 200ml or 320ml jars. They only differ in height. Any reason to prefer one over the other?

Taller jars can help keep the casing from drying out.  But to tall may prevent air exchange at the surface.

I would probably go for 320ml.  But the 500ml jars here are too tall.  Which is why I got the blue lidded containers.

Updated the op with a few more photos.  Pre-shake,  colonizing, and some I will case tomorrow.
