There is something called a collective commons (?) and they don't recognize a right to be forgotten.

So, more nuanced than the right to say anything not a threat to persons or property.

With the extreme division we see in the world today, I believe it is important to keep the concept of 'enantiodromia' in mind when we vehemently oppose the actions of our "opponents" or "enemies".

Carl Jung said:

Quote:
Old Heraclitus, who was indeed a very great sage, discovered the most marvelous of all psychological laws: the regulative function of opposites. He called it enantiodromia, a running contrariwise, by which he meant that sooner or later everything runs into its opposite.

Carl Jung also said:

Quote:
This characteristic phenomenon practically always occurs when an extreme, one-sided tendency dominates conscious life; in time an equally powerful counter position is built up, which first inhibits the conscious performance and subsequently breaks through the conscious control.

Have you ever noticed when you are judging someone's behaviour and are vehemently opposed to it, excluding that trait as a possibility within yourself, you unconsciously manifest that very behaviour?

Jimmy Kimmel got suspended due to pressure from the trump admin

This type of wacky silliness is one reason Trump won a second term.

Why didn't the Trump admin pressure ABC to do this 9 years ago?

The Democrats beating the "authoritarianism" drum are hilarious.

Let's look at the chain of causality here, Trump sues paramount right as theyre seeking fcc approval for a big merger. Stephen Colbert gets fired. NYT gets sued by trump for 15 billion dollars because trump doesnt like what theyre saying about him. A week later Kimmel says something incredibly tame about the shooter possibly being a republican, didnt even say a bad word about Charlie Kirk. The fcc headed by a trump loyalist issues statements condemning Kimmel, disney fires him for "not representing their values"

Trump has been saying for years he wanted these people off the air because of their criticism twoards him and he made it happen simple as that.

Theres a reason why real satirists like south park made a whole episode about trump suing everyone and jesus making a speech that they dont want to end up like Colbert and saying that paramount bent the knee.

If the roles were reversed and Biden sued fox news and all of the sudden conservative commentators were being fired and sued left and right you'd be all up in arms about it.

The truth is you just agree with it so it doesnt bother you. But it should.

I think if the world had a common enemy, like an alien invasion, we might be able to all get along for a while.

It has to be a problem with an origin completely off-world which is an immediate threat and necessitates global cooperation - because the world is definitely not joining hands on those two topics - too much room for fingerpointing.

Maybe a giant meteor could also work?

A giant meteor struck Germany about 14.7 million years ago and threw a massive wave of tektite glass from the impact to the east into the Czech republic creating the popular and very expensive stone called Moldavite. The impact is estimated to have had more heat than the sun.

What really gets me is how easily these kids are brainwashed into throwing their lives away. He texted his homosexual lover that he "Had to take the chance to take him out" or something along those lines, if those text messages are real. Did he really think he was going to get away with it? Did he really hatch up a murder plan in a week? This man must have had mental illness if he thought so.

And apparently he was going to transition into a woman. Well, did he ever consider what that might be like in prison? It's just so sad, so heart breaking. I don't care if we disagree, murder is not the answer, but now this kids life is going to be a living hell. And I don't understand why people think the death penalty is the  worst punishment?

The death penalty would be the easy way out for this kid. The worst punishment would be a life of torment in prison, in my humble opinion as opposed to a somewhat quick and painless death

The death penalty is a mercy for the (violent) mentally insane. Why do you want to torture those who are already tortured by life itself?

I was saying that in my opinion life in prison is a worse punishment than the death penalty. I think you may have put some words in my mouth.

Very funny. Yeah, and there's also the chance maybe someday something happens and you escape/get out.

I was curious as to the political affiliations of prisoners, and here is what AI said. Which I'm not sure applies to this situation.

Here's what I think: Most prisoners probably don't even know who Charlie Kirk is/was and only until after the word gets out, will people take sides and either protect or aim to harm the suspected killer in custody.

What do you think?

Quote:
Generally speaking, surveys and research indicate that the political leanings of prisoners in the U.S. don’t neatly fit typical partisan stereotypes. But trends suggest:

Conservative/right-leaning: Many prisoners hold socially conservative views, especially on issues like abortion, family, religion, and law-and-order attitudes. Studies in the 2000s and 2010s found a significant portion identify as “pro-life” and value traditional morality.

Liberal/left-leaning: On economic issues—welfare, labor rights, criminal justice reform—prisoners often lean more liberal, supporting government assistance, prison reform, and workers’ rights.

So overall, prisoners may be socially conservative but economically or policy-wise lean left. It’s a mix rather than a strong alignment with either major party.

If you want, I can summarize the most reliable surveys and percentages showing this breakdown. Do you want me to do that?

The democrat party was once was successful in stoking fear in the masses that "existential threats" would reap Armageddon like destruction.  They love to preach about an upcoming apocalypse. A horrendous catastrophe of enormous proportions.  But they took the propaganda too far and now people ignore the silly term - just like the term "systemic racism" means nothing anymore.

BTW, didn't 99% of people survive the Covid 19 virus?

You call that "a big existential threat"?

And I think with his transition to a woman and being a homosexual male, prison will be less painful to him should any rapes take place. Perhaps life in prison is what this guy really wanted was free housing and endless homosexual sex forever until he dies, and the death penalty is the only true justice instead of letting him live his BDSM homosexual fantasy out forever.
