I love these things!!!
Pollocks gettin harvested in the morning

Space is tight in an NYC apt so Florida buddies livin together Pan Peace River and Tamp Pollock. Those pans are about spent. Been fruiting for like 2 weeks straight!

Jalisco JCM from front to back each fruited three days apart from 8/23-29. Top try 1:1 with grain and sclerotia. Bottom 2 trays 1:2 with grain only.

Jalisco also dropped some heavy prints🤘🤘🤘

Mex Rancho Agosto

Mex Chicon Nindo

Side by side, big difference!

Mex Vera Cruz. I should probably case it & move it to the tent.

God do I love mexicana. Whatever’s in these just fits my brain like a glove. They seem like the easiest choice when I’m in the mood for a trip.

I’ve been walking back the nutes I use for these. Half the NPK  this time, maybe 5ml in this batch of CV+. Tamps don’t seem to mind higher amounts. VC is on CV and seems to be back to its old ways of not giving me micro fruits lol. Going to rerun RA on CV as well to see if we can get them a little bigger. I like the coverage, but there’s no way I’m getting good prints from that tub

Just beautiful:mushroom2:  Are any of these producing sclerotia as well?

Ayyyoo! 🤩

Look at MojaveMex & lostsoul making my heart go pitter-patter! 🄰

Thank you for those, mexi mood boost!

Love the difference in appearance from šŸ”” bells on a balloon string šŸŽˆ to itty bitty orange umbrellas ā˜”!

Akin to the mex-A & Jalisco fruit broad spectrum.

5 year old Jalisco spores just germinated, to my pleasant surprise. Another go at attempting to get a decent sclerotia producer out of it. šŸ˜šŸ¤·šŸ» I have a feeling going to bulk will fair better than invitro with the Jalisco, something I've only done with mex-A.

Sorry, those are all I cultivate anymore so I apologize for always raving. šŸ¤ŖšŸ˜…šŸ¤£

Got some truffles from a dutch smartshop/headshop and want to clone them.
Has anyone managed to make those genetics fruit?
I read in another thread that those genetics might be isolates that only produce sclerotia but no fruits, because fruits are illegal in the Netherlands.
Any experiences?
Thanks in advance.

I'd be more concerned about senescence but even that is unlikely. Depends how far they "stretched" the mycelium through grain to grain transfers etc. Only one way to find out but many others have successfully cloned smartshop genetics. šŸ™ŒšŸ»šŸ„³

I always isolate for vigorous sclerotia potential and have yet to see one that didn't also fruit well. I have however, seen cultures that fruit well but form few rocks.

In theory, sclerotia is a step towards being a fruitbody anyway... it's sole purpose is to survive and prosper after harsh conditions, generally pushing up a few rosebuds🌹 when conditions are ideal to continue the cycle. 🄰

Really, you only need a few mushrooms and a sporeprint if the genetic qualities aren't to your liking; then you can isolate to your hearts delight. Those are favorable odds.

I'd rather have the best of both worlds because one can also control it's response through the environment. šŸ«¶šŸ»

Senescence is definitely a problem with a lot of mushrooms, Tamps included. It's the biggest reason why I haven't been able to grow any for a couple years now. They can barely colonize grain, and when spawned to bulk the only thing that appears (after days of no activity) is mold. :frown:

In an sab or FFU, rip a stone in 1/2 and use needle nose tweezers to remove a piece of the inner stone to agar. Many people prefer water agar for cloning. You might be able to spawn some stones to coir or possibly even soil for a potted plant, might get stones and mushrooms?

Re: The OFFICIAL Stone producer/sclerotia thread and discussion [Re: YoshiTrainer] * 3
    #29336756 -

That's the way it's done, as Yoshi explained. šŸ«¶šŸ» Quickest, sure fire way to get some good genetics until/if you choose to isolate for other qualities.

I had some abysmal yielding MS jars - maybe 12 fresh grams per quart - so I took a small stone & a large stone from them to clone, essentially to tide me over while I searched for potential stoning sectors on agar.

Cloning them to agar, I observed to see if they sectored (they didn't), & made sure they were clean cultures. The rest is history. 🄰

These initial clone tissue plates have also been my master "slants" for years to avoid senescence. I always come back to those, taking a sliver, growing out a new plate>Rye>G2G>bulk if desired. A stone is also a genetic safe that can be rehydrated and rejuvenated.

The original plates are potato chips but still viable - scraping a chunk to agar to come alive again. I used to put the dried šŸ„”  chip directly in grains but it's not as reliable as going to agar. To agar first is šŸ’Æ guaranteed rejuvination.

-- I do have some cyrovials made though. 🄰 --

These 2 cultures, affectionately called "lavender" & the other dubbed "Tommy Knocker" surpassed my expectations & I haven't found the need to touch Mex A spores since. They're my best performers in all departments. If I want stones, gas exchange only...If I want sticks, I case & increase air exchange. Consistent results.

I'm unfamiliar with the delicacies of water agar but if that method tickles your fancy & others approve, I'm sure it's an effective route to take. šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ˜Ž

Yoshi is also correct, spawning stones to bulk will work & stones buried in a potted plant will also fruit. 99.99 has done this for shits and giggles, just to see and has photos. šŸ¤—šŸ¤£

Slightly more difficult to get a print that way though; the fruitbodies are thin and require near saturation level humidity to reach maturity. Matchsticks. You're much better off cloning to agar first and having options/more attempts till you dial them in.

Sorry for the novel. šŸ¤·šŸ»šŸ˜…

Thank you guys for these valuable information!
Will try to clone these truffles on agar and water agar and see what happens.
It’s hard to find spores of stone producers in Europe.
Many dutch Smartshops only have LC syringes, but they are contaminated in many cases.
Tried one of these LC syringes (mexicana A) on agar, but there grew nothing but mold.
So getting the truffles is much easier for me.
Will update some pics as soon as Mr. Valhalla is growing on agar.

I am also growing the Ps. mexicana Veracruz Coyopolan variety. This is from a wild print, which was cleaned up. It was grown in coir and oats as substrate and cased with peat only (without vermiculite). A bit like I read it in 99.99s posts.

It started pinning after 2 weeks, in the spot where water permanently puddled on the surface, because of excessive condensation on the lid.
