I can see it having a place in intensive group work as well as movement and somatic therapies.  Sex therapy.  Yoga.  Ecstatic dance.  etc.

Stuff that's outside the usual focus of Western psychology to focus exclusively on the individual mind.  But, still, there's potential there for healing.

Neither is physically dangerous.  Both can potentially cause vascular heart disease when dosed chronically (like daily, as in the case of micro dosing without breaks).  And LSD is more likely to trigger a psychotic episode due to the duration and dopamine action.

And everyone is going to have their favorites, but y'all's drug chauvinism is  some kiddie pool shit.

I just wanted to point something out...

It's pretty clear why LSD was initially "the drug" that psychiatry had its sights set on. It was pretty much the white man's pharmaceutical version of mushrooms or mescaline.

If everybody were being honest... The "goal" for big pharma isn't to heal people, it's to develop drugs that they can sell that heal people.

Drugs that grow out of the ground in a semi-usable form like cannabis, mushrooms, and mescaline never had a fair shot.

I feel that way sometimes too.

And LSD has no medicinal benefits. Psilocybin has heaps.

LSD will never be legalised, it also makes for a break from reality for 12 hours. Make of it what you will.

The LSD psychotherapy thing especially Stanislav Grof, I think they chose the wrong one. It's psilocybin that will help trauma. Success story LSD psychotherapy is probably because the people were healing anyway or they overdosed for their biochemistry and it kind of flipped out of the unconscious waters like a fish.

Psilocybin instantly, pretty much as soon as it hits, flushes traumas. Quite violently. It purges. Some of the victims out there actually... they have no chance without psilocybin. No amount of situational triggering or talk therapy is going to even dent some psychopaths (from childhood rapes and beatings), in fact they might even get turned away from talk therapy and for good reason, the problem is insoluble, without psilocybin... Yes I speak from experience.

I appreciate your great appreciation for psilocybin. I think you sell LSD a bit short, but i'm totally with you that mushrooms and their Psilocin are a better thing than that semisynthetic daughter of Ergot.

2 spores + 1 hand of grain = 1 hand of mushrooms and 2 million spores

nothing can stop that revolution. When we spread life among the stars, psychedelic mushrooms will come with us.

I am comfortable with it only because I have FAFO'd with it (what suicidal ideation does to a motherfucker)

Depression successfully cured, but the reason I say I am comfortable with it now is because I trust it completely but also respect it greatly due to what I expeirenced.

Reality folded open and I saw an angel man...

Hofmann wrote about having childhood mystical experiences out in nature that his experiences with LSD seemed to recreate. He called it "medicine for the soul" and he hoped it could reconnect us with nature.

This thread caving into the bullshit fear created by the CIA is tragic. I though shroomery was better than this.

Timothy Leary, the Merry Pranksters, all that irresponsible dangerous behavior happened because of the government (no I'm not weary a tinfoil hat I don't want to downplay those individuals agency, just that they never would have known LSD even existed in the first place if the government wasn't busy doing Midnight Climax shit.

Cyanide is naturally occuring. "It's matural so it's better / safer than the synthesized compound" is anti-science nonsense. Everyone eats a diet of engineered "unnatural" modified food, people don't think nature actually gave us conviently juicy fruits and nice grains do they? This fetishism of "natural" drugs is born of the same logic as war on drugs nonsense

Perhaps you know something I don't? My understanding is that there is a slight vasoconstrictive effect but it's not physically dangerous unless you take hundreds or thousands of times a normal dose.

I also don't get why people are saying that mushrooms have a clear medicinal benefit while LSD doesn't, but I admittedly haven't done much research in this area.

I think what Treefrog meant by not physically dangerous is that it’s very safe to take in the normal dosage range. It would for sure get more dangerous if you decided to eat a lot of it. If you ate 50 doses of psilocybin I’m guessing it would be a bit more risky too.

Maybe low dose LSD is medicinal. I had a massive childhood trauma and mushrooms just flushed and flushed and flushed it like my whole body was pulsing, but on LSD I kind of just stared at this massive cloud making a strange sound for 3 hours behind my eyes then watched CSI with new characters in it apparently written ahead of my trip because it all came together perfectly. Coming down I talked to elves made of light behind my eyelids. It didn't concern itself with my repression.

Low doses, yeah, you feel better afterwards. It might make you a higher being of some sort or start you off in that direction, just doesn't seem to care about your childhood though.

William James said any ecstasy is purifying.

Okay you are a troll.

LSD is certainly less dangerous than fucking ketamine which you go on about how wonderful that is so get the fuck out of here dude with your someone fill this girl in bullshit.

LSD isn't dangerous in dosage ranges up to fifty times an active dose.  That's safer than ketamine and Tylenol.

But yeah technically people can die from it, just like fucking water can be physically dangerous.

I'm sure if you put your whole head in a vat of liquid LSD you would drown so technically dangerous.

Seriously go back to the kiddie pool with your chauvinistic bullshit. When you want to join the adults come back up here and talk.

LSD is potentially physically dangerous... if you dropped a thousand lbs of it on someone's foot it would definitely break their foot!

Wear steel toed boots if you are worried about LSD physically harming you. Maybe a foil hat too, but can't it eat through foil? Isn't it an acid*?

There was a case study on some folks that snorted crystalline LSD thinking it was cocaine, they all survived. They all had a very difficult night in the hospital, but everyone survived.

A line is between 50 and 75mg, or 5000-7500ug.  Typical street dose is 50-100ug.  Stanislov Grof gave folks 2000ug+ too.  As well as to cancer patients and folks that were in their '80s.

But please, someone fill this girl in.

@OP, if you really want to understand the future of LSD, read this book. He goes into a lot of different ways it can be used therapeutically, some of which I mentioned in my first reply to this thread. For somatic stuff it's great, and it very high doses it can go very deep. Read the book if you actually care to do something other than troll and stroke your own ego with your drug chauvinist bullshit.

Because honestly fam, you are no better than Nixon who outlawed everything except for his favorite drug. Booze.

I had severe physical pain from a massive overdose of LSD. It was a volume of the drug in the milligrams and likely contained other ergoline residues from synthesis and was ingested in a volume where they could have had pronounced physiological effects and I cannot assert that what happened to me was a result of taking a large amount of pure LSD.

It was an accident, it was traumatic, I didn't use LSD again for years. Kinda don't want to talk about it either, it's in the distant past.

I've taken LSD many times since then and it has been rewarding and pleasant for the most part, though occasionally boring. I use it less now and get more out of it.

My last dose fam, I accidentally puddled myself cleaning a vial. It was clean LSD and it was still a very difficult night physically, I wasn't in any real danger but the body load was fierce.

Psychologically I was in a good place so that wasn't a big deal really, I set in an Epsom salt bath and took some ibuprofen and rode it out. During the peak I was too high to see my bed.

Judging by past measure doses that I had taken, which peaked about the 750 range. I was easily over a thousand.

Grof did mention some contraindications for high doses, folks that suffer from seizures for example.  But Tylenol is contraindicated in people that have liver damage, so the idea that any drug is completely safe is a fallacy to begin with. And if OP wants to split hairs he can, but the fact is is that LSD is safer than Tylenol in regards to dose response curve versus LD50.
