New to dating, help?
    #26132604 -

I'm recently divorced, was married my entire adult life, have never done traditional dating in my life. Every girl I've ever been with, except one (met her through school, but more or less the same as everyone else) I was introduced through friends and we just kinda hung out, usually at my house, until we were a thing. Never really went to dinner, movies or any of that kind of shit.

Well, I've been on dating apps looking for women to date, and I've found one maybe. Now I need to know what comes next... I feel so clueless, and I don't wanna make any obvious mistakes that experience would teach if I can avoid it, so any help? For all practical purposes, you might as well consider me a hopeless virgin, because when it comes to this I basically am.

I'm a pretty quiet and shy person (really outside of my comfort zone here) but I've been messaging her and getting to know her and she seems to be up for meeting in person in the future and she gave me her phone number last night. So I must be doing something right..

#1 Don’t romanticize any of these initial interactions with women. Consider them as practice for the one you hope to later meet. Consider dating as a sexual outlet. DO NOT convince yourself that you’re  falling in love or catching feelings. Fight that urge to nest

#2 Play the numbers game. Meet a bunch of different women and enjoy yourself. Don’t waste too much time on any chick that seems unresponsive, move on.

#3 If you’re hooking up online strictly to fuck, BE CAREFUL who you invite back to your place. Online hookups can be sketchy as hell. BE CAREFUL of who you accompany back to their place. DO NOT put yourself in any situation that you can’t escape from should the necessity arise. I’m not fucking around about this

#4 Wear a rubber and be very selective about who you go down on (HPV and throat cancer)

#5 Enjoy yourself, don’t spend too much of your money on any of these women. Do the wild things in bed you were too ashamed to do with your ex wife or you’ll be too ashamed to ask to do with your future wife

#6 (like #3) Have fun but be alert. Keep your “Crazy Bitch” radar on at all times

Internet dating is full of creeps and worse, so once you get to the date part, pretty much just don't show up in a clown mask or pull your dick out. You are past the hard part.

But really, she already likes the words you say, next part is just chemistry. If she's doing internet dating she's in the same position as you, ran out of options IRL and nervous that you will either not like her or, as I mentioned earlier, show up in a clown mask with your dick out.

Trust me, I'm fucking awful at all of it and I met my last gf on a dating app. Was an overall really good experience, of course the first 20 minutes was awkward as fuck but it always is

I'm not really looking to just get laid or anything. Hell if I had my way I'd find the person I could spend the rest of my life with. I'm looking for the right person though, there's really got to be something there.. I don't want to look back years later and feel like I settled. I loved, and still do love, my ex wife, but we didn't have a ton in common when it came to interests. I want to find someone I enjoy being with AND have interests in common with.

Rule #1 still applies.

You need to sharpen up your dating skills on some practice ladies

Rule #2 is also still applicable

It will give you an idea of what’s out there

I would start looking for a girl at the gym, or maybe join a church of the more liberal religious variety.

Just show up and be authentic. Remember, it's not a job interview. Let yourself relax and have fun. She doesn't have to fall for you. As long as you're not a weirdo to her, you're doing all that's expected of you.

Treat her like a woman that you're not attracted to. Ask questions and try not to over talk. Go get a tan and put on some nice clothes. Make sure you smell really good. After the date wait at least a week before you ask for another. That's about it..
