Why does all modern cutting edge mj look the same?

They're all ancestors of chem dawg.  Watch a youtube video called best buds of 2019 or some shit.  It's all stuff named after food.  Very very similiar in the way they flower.  Sounds gross.

This is what happens when yuppie trust fund kids do what they want.  They over bred potent strains without a lot of outcrossing.  Someone did DNA tests and these strains are almost genetically identical.

This hasn't happened yet with pure sativas.  Just the hybrids.  Sure there is good seed out there but this shit that people are into sounds like piss poor breeding for marketing.  No real breeding  :disappoint:  :disappointedlaugh:  :sammy:

I want to learn herb so bad. It takes up much more space than I have available to grow covertly so I have to wait for legalization

This is def true for the most part.  Over the last decade the market has been flooded with so-called "breeders" simply making an F1 cross and branding it as a new strain instead of starting with a landrace and putting in the work! 

Which is why work from the small handful of the original breeders of most of the popular strains out there have become so sought after and the prices for there work has skyrocketed!  My seed collection has become near priceless!

There's just some very serious genetic 'bottlenecking going on.  People trying to get food flavor terps and high THC readings.  Lot's of marketing that is for the consumer, not the grower.

That's why people like tomatoes flowers with some variety.  Kinda pointless to have 20 packs of seeds with different names and hardly any real difference.  Or however many packs people buy.

Would be interesting to see what seed stores are like, if federally legal.  Perhaps some mom and pop genius breeding for local climates.

The legal market for seeds here is total nonsense, only two strains and they're from the same company. And even those two are out of stock a lot of the time.

I prefer that old school landrace weed too

Im at a point in time where i dont really care about anything at all anymore

But its in a good way

Just trying to focus on the happy things 

Just trying to make it through my day everyday

But in 10 , 20 years or less , Ill Be surprised if you can find seeds that arent pure Fem

Nobody seems to want the mails and that Is where the magic comes from in the true selection of breeding

Growers in Mexico and Jamaica don't even grow landrace strains anymore. Its funny that in the 80s we picked those precious seeds out of our import weed and threw them in the garbage. Shit like real panama red is extinct, lots of landrace seeds are. Someone should have made a noahs ark of seeds instead we just have a 100 kinds of kush.

Growers don't like sativas that take forever to grow, people aren't willing to pay a bunch more for that kind of boutique shit either. There are secret heirloom stains out there though and some people ae keeping old strains going too.

theres lit tons of og strains grown in great prevelance everywhere people just don't prefer them cuz they only get to like low 20% for thc concentrations most times.

Odd too cause I found a webpage awhile back that had potato seed.  Not potato starts, but actual seed.  Which potato needs to make an actual cross (to be from seed).

There is variety in seed out there.  Sad part is though that none of these are being hyped.  *mj

Completely agree with OP. The strain market is a joke. Nobody knows wtf they have anymore period. Even here is SoCal things have gotten crazy since it all went legal.
I’ve been growing for years and probably about 6 times I really knew what the strain was by only because I knew the legends myself lol. Some of the best runs I’ve ever had were bag seed of unknown origins.
But the market has no idea. NO IDEA what they are selling.

Ever since the commercial market opened, they cross bred and renamed everything because they're trying to be greedy little assholes by copyrighting the names of their strains and stupid shit like that. I can't even tell what the hell I'm buying anymore. It wasn't even like this when it was all medical. Everyone just wants to get rich quick off of shitty cross bred renamed copyrighted weed (tm).

I'm pretty close to just saying fuck it and growing my own so I can avoid that stupid bullshit.

Odd too cause I've followed IC since OG went down and most viral strains were bagseed. Some even hermie.

To my knowledge I don’t think there is a public database of genetic profiles.. however seedfinder is a good resource for finding original strains.
