Girlfriend's phone bill question

Suspect my GF lied to me about something involving money. Placing the evidence here, opinions are appreciated.

6/17 9:36pm

Her- forgot to pay my phone bill. (she lives an hour from me)
Me- It's just a late fee though, if you miss a payment?
Her- I'm ritually a month behind.

She has 2 phones and an Ipad, asked for $275

I sent her the money.

7/2

(asking about her day)
Her- ...My phone got turned off halfway through the day

By my thinking, even if she was a month behind, if she made a payment on 6/17 she shouldn't have service interruption until at least 7/17.

Me yesterday- 9:30 pm the 17th you asked for 275 for a phone bill, then 3 weeks later you tell me your phone was cut off. How is that possible?
Her - my phone bill is always a month behind. So having paid what's past due I still had to pay the current month.

I didn't press the matter but her explanation offered no new information.

I know the knee jerk reaction is that she lied. I'm hoping someone will have some insight on how it's possible to pay a phone bill on 6/17 and have service interrupted on 7/2 even if she stays a month behind.

Any ideas?

Depends on the company. Some get pissy after a while if you always owe some, particularly if you have bad credit. My last hydro/electric company did something similar, got a month behind because we work wasn't great and the landlord wouldn't fix the furnace so we were heating with space heaters, plug in radiators ect. Gave me a notice of termination if we didn't pay. We managed to pay and it was cool again, even got a little behind again for the same reason but even worse when we moved they didn't shut it off in time and then they acted like I owed them money.

Big phone carrier, everything is pretty standard, one month leeway. Basic issue is if delinquent payment was made 6/17 then service shouldn't be interrupted until at least 7/17.

After some digging around it seems there is one possibility where a partial payment was made with the rest expected soon after, but when I confronted her she didn't offer any new information, only saying she was a month behind.

So I'm convinced she was/is lying. Having already asked her about it, she had the opportunity to explain and if there was a partial payment involved she could have told me then.

Sounds like shes using the money for something else. It could also be possible that shes more than one month behind, thus shes in debt to the cell phone company and $275 isnt going very far.

Any ideas what she could be spending money on? Is she a shopoholic by chance? Maybe she likes liquor?

We've been seeing each other for about 3 months and our relationship is still casual so I wouldn't be surprised if she was seeing someone else. She lost a friend to a motorcycle accident last year and a previous boyfriend committed suicide last year. She works in a restaurant and goes to school so money is tight, but because of the afore mentioned losses she has been drinking and I suspect that has something to do with it.

I'm going ask her to show me an online record of the payment. I suspect she will not be able to provide it. In that case it will be a matter of whether she can deal with it and whether I want to continue seeing someone I don't trust. I suppose it's possible she had some kind of arrangement with the phone company that could result in early service termination but no indication that is the case. Normally if someone pays a late bill 6/17 the next late bill would be due 7/17 at the soonest.

I guess it would depend on what kind of relationship you're looking for. If you're looking for a real long term partner then this is stupid. But if this particularly "less serious" then there's not exactly an expectation of trust there. Tons of people can't get with someone without just expecting them to fuck around, lie ect. Some people just want some sex until they get bored

I know I wouldn't give a girl money if we where casually seeing each other. I mean I'd pay for us to eat out or go to the movies or whatever for the date but if she asked me for money to pay her bills and we weren't living together sharing our money. Then fuck no.

I dated a girl for about a month before she asked for my bank account # to have her paycheck deposited into my account. She even had a blank spot in her journal where she was going to write it down. I never gave it to her and a few months later she asked me to co-sign an apartment for her and her new boyfriend haha. I could have cucked out hard and done it but I told her I'd meet her at the bank to do it and never went. She had to take the bus all the way across town to get there.
