My brother is about to be a millionaire overnight... * 1

I wasn't sure where to post this but I have to share. It's feels like a dream.

Long story short, my brother's girlfriend of 5 years is a first cousin to Tom Brady. It was more of an interesting fact (and made trash-talking extra fun in the last Super Bowls, lol.) Anyway, he's been giving her and her sister signed cards all throughout his career. After one recently sold for $400,000, they decided pull hers out of storage. They're not getting their hopes up, but from what I've seen, they are sitting on $2-3 million.

Have you had anything similar happen? Did it cause problems/conflicts?

Who cares that's not even that much money anymore. I doubt theyll get anything close to what your saying. Tell them not to blow all the money in like 5 years. Also it's the girls money bro they're not even married LOL

It is true, it's hers. She's a good person and they're very much in love but I am still a little afraid of money causing problems.

In any case, getting a lot of negative feedback. I'm not like "Hahaha, peasants!" I'm genuinely excited for them and think it's kind of amazing that something like that can happen.

I'm not into sports memorabilia, but looking on ebay autographed cards maybe sell for a few hundred bucks, a grand tops.

Where are you getting 2-3 million for an autographed card?

Maybe it's a number of cards
I could see a rookie card of a famous athlete like Tom Brady going for a lot if in mint condition.

One question is what card sold for $400k and why. Chances are it's not so much the signature as the rarity of the card it's on. Unless he rarely signs memorabilia for people.

it was sone ultra rare rookie card that went for 400k.

"There were only 100 copies of the Brady card produced, and the auctioned card is one of only two that received a grade of 9 or higher by Beckett Grading Services."

so it's kinda hard to fake that

also they said it was the highest price ever paid for a football card I mean depending on what cards she has and what not could be alot of money yah

He gave them rare cards earlier in his career. It's not just the signatures. She has more than one of the cards that recently sold for $250,000 and $400,000. They were a series of 100 and all signed. She has others being listed in the hundred thousands range, as well. It's not the signatures as much as it was him giving limited cards to family. The signatures just boost the value.

Maybe they don't break a million, though they have multiple cards which have sold in the hundred thousands. In any case, I'm excited for them.

It was a limited release with a set of only 100 and they're all signed. He gave them out to multiple family members. What actually pushed her to look into it is because she knew that the family had a handful of them. After the $400,000 card sold, her dad bought a boat and started traveling. She got nervous that he was going to sell the cards that were given to her and her sister. (It turns out he wasn't the seller, by the way. It was just coincidental).

If they're that rare and she decides to try to offload several at one time, it will decrease the value likely. I mean really they're worth whatever someone will pay for them, a bunch of people who really want that card fighting over the only one currently on auction drives the price up. The more people who value that card so highly that actually have that much money to drop on it, that get their hands on one, the less people there are too drive the price up.

Basically everybody agrees on the value of money. Only a handful of rich fanatic nut jobs can agree on the ‘value’ of items like these. Yes, I’d sell it if I could, and I’d laugh all the way to the bank. What kind of moron spends enough money to buy a house on a baseball card? I don’t care how rich you are. It’s a waste of money. And just because one guy was willing to pay that much, doesn’t mean anyone else would necessarily.
