Is nitrous under rated?

I have quite a few friends  who like psychedelics but I don’t know anyone IRL who has tried nitrous properly. I think it’s kind of a hidden and forgotten psychedelic/disso for many people.

The few I know who tried it never really appreciate it because their experience was based on a can of whipped cream which is the lamest way to do nitro. Plus, nitrous is mainly an enhancer drug and has very little recreational value on its own. I love the stuff but doing it sober is extremely boring and under whelming.

I think the fact that you need a cracker or whipped cream dispenser or tank is why most people never try nitro. Seems like a hassle.

But I love the stuff. I also find it interesting how radically different it is on different chemicals. Nitrous on K is so different from nitrous on acid and that’s different from nitrous on M.

Let’s talk about nitro. Share your thoughts and experiences and whether you think it’s under rated.

Call me trashy, but nitrous is one of my absolute favorite drugs.
Nothing like a few lines a K and a a balloon when coming down from acid after a show.
But by itself, I could take it or leave it.

Buddy of mine use to move balloons in show lots ( 80s), did it for many years, hundreds of big tanks. Was always at my disposal as well. Anyhow, he ended getting permanent nerve damage in his right arm. Constantly feels numb and spasms occasionally.  So too much over time is not recommended. If you do nitrous, be certain it's medical grade, not automotive grade ( for commercial tanks).

I finally got scared and quit but not before doing tons of the stuff

I just ate a gram of old -a collection over years, and stored in no specific way- 'cubensis truffles', I know, the species don't form true truffles, but it's the closest I could think of as a description.

A gram of at least year old dried cubes, also stored in no particular fashion and not 'cracker dry, were recently found to be active.

Storage, sporage stuff it up ma whorage, I'm feeling it.

I keep finding evidence of whippet use on my manor, but I 'm yet to try it as a potentiowhatameter :mushroom2:

I think it's way over-rated and way too expensive for what you get. It gives me a headache too which is a no no.

I find the brands vary significantly in cleanness and euphoria.

Did you combine it with anything else?

Just gives me a slight headache and mild euphoria.  Synergistic, yea, but since I don't even understand what I'm getting out of a drug normally I feel like it's better to take the experiences as is in this lifetime.

Good Nitrous should hit hard. Even though it’s nowhere as intense or mind blowing as Ketamine and only lasts about a minute, the high should be very noticeable and fairly enjoyable if done on shrooms, acid, M, etc

Nitrous oxide by itself, I find it to be pretty dull and lackluster...It's really not anything interesting by itself IME. Like I won't ever buy nitrous just to sit around and do nitrous, it's pretty boring and doesn't do much of anything for me. The only time I ever buy and do nitrous is when I am tripping or rolling.


Combined with psychedelics and/or MDMA/MDA, nitrous is the absolute epitome of synergy....it is one of the most immense and incredible combinations ever. Tons of euphoria...and some of the experiences I've had with nitrous & LSD or mushrooms are easily on par with some of my smoked DMT experiences. Pretty much all of my "peak" and profound moments in my psychedelic travels over the years occurred after a lung full or two of nitrous oxide while on a psychedelic.

It is incredible the potential nitrous oxide has with LSD and other psychedelics, considering how boring and dull it is on its own.

It is so spectacular with psychedelics and MDMA or MDA that I almost always have 24 to 50 chargers on hand when I plan on tripping or rolling. It is certainly a staple of my trips.

I don't sit around and doing the stuff throughout the entire trip, I don't get out of hand and fiend for the stuff like some folks do......but 10 to 15 balloons of the stuff over the course of a trip is typical for me.




Nitrous oxide is one thing I suggest people try at least once while tripping....I am always surprised that so many people (particularly around here) do not know about the potential and terrific synergy that nitrous oxide has with the classic psychedelics.

It really is the epitome of synergy....It is so crazy how well nitrous meshes with and potentiates psychedelics, considering how dull and lackluster it is by itself.

Have you tried it while peaking on LSD or mushrooms or MDMA or MDA?

By itself nitrous is certainly one of the most boring and lackluster drugs I've ever tried.

But doing it while on LSD specifically, it is so ridiculous and so incredible what it can do, very profound stuff...I've had several full on out of body experiences with the stuff over the years, and many other ineffable moments. Nitrous + psychedelics can get on par with DMT for me at times, but just a little different in nature. It can throw one waaaay out there and take one real deep in an instant.

Strange that you get headaches from the stuff...How much did you do that it gave you headaches?....I know a lot of people that dabble with it when they trip or roll and I've never heard of anyone getting headaches from it. The only time I sorta felt a headache was when I did some after having several drinks throughout the night, but I feel that was more the alcohol than anything.

It's not all that expensive....$10 to $12 is enough to last me throughout a trip, and I usually have some left over at the end of the night. $20 worth is enough to last me 3 to 4 days while at festivals.

With a tank tho...it's suuuuuper super cheap stuff. Like dirt cheap for how much one gets.

By itself...I totally feel nitrous is overrated. I do not understand the appeal of inhaling nitrous oxide by itself when one is not on a psychedelic or something like MDMA or MDA.

Like I know a few people that looove nitrous itself, they would buy the stuff just to sit around and do it like a fuckin' fiend...and they'd do that several times a week, just hanging out at their house inhaling balloon after balloon....That I do not understand at all, it's such a lame and boring drug by itself I have zero interest in it if I'm not tripping or rolling. I do not get anything from nitrous by itself, just a brief and mild dissociation and that's about it.



But with psychedelics....Yea, it is certainly under-rated and I feel lots of people do not know about the synergy and potential it has. Nitrous oxide is the whip-cream topping to my psychedelic sundaes.

I love nitrous. I feel lke its misunderstood.

I love how nitrous bends my mind so strangely. Even from sober, i still love nitrous in its strange simplicity. I like the feeling of being Twisted like that (Shpongle knows :shpongle:). I had to quit recently because i was getting too much tingling in my fingertips, even with B12 vitamins. Maybe i just need massive doses of B12.....

Nitrous on shrooms and Acid is amazing. Also on the DMT comedown, its really nice.

Always be one of my favorites :nitrous:

I took balloons of it visiting my brother in college, we were drinking and smoking herb and I kept getting this very intense deja vuu.

Never done it tripping because it was never around + tripping is usually so intense I don’t prefer to add anything to the mix.

When I was getting my wisdom teeth out I kept giving the thumbs up/more sign to my dentist and I think I annoyed him because he finally opened it up and I had a salvia like out of body experience where I completely forgot who and where I was.  It was really intense, next level shit man.  I’ve not done it since even though the local vape shop sells crackers and the little pellet gun co2 looking janks.  They’re probably too expensive to be worth it but if it’s a ‘treat’ who gives a fuck, so maybe one day I’ll bite..

That dentist trip was insane, I had no idea nitrous could do anything like that.

Wow. I have a similar experience on nitrous, almost like deja vu. To me, it feels like my mind is channeling some important information really fast, like an instant moment of revelation about something. Its a great feeling.

Ive never had access to a tank but high doses of nitrous can definitely cause out-of-body experiences. Those high doses is where it truely gets weird.

Nitrous is great, its like youll get all the answers to the world and forget them when you come back to.

Any problem you're having at the time by the time you've punched through a box of 10 whippits you'll have forgotten what was worrying you by the 10th.

Its quite addictive and also can deplete b12 if abused really badly for a length of time, with depleted b12 a person can present as full blown psychosis.

Look up nitrous parties aristocrats used to have in the 1900's
