pain sufferers say they are unintentional victims of the crackdown on opioids
    #25574077 -

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — As President Donald Trump gets ready to sign new opioid legislation into law, people who suffer from chronic pain worry the bill includes provisions that could hurt them.

These people believe they represent the other side of the epidemic.

Johnna Magers of Indianapolis says she battles chronic pain daily.

"Some days it's bad," Magers said. "Some days it's not so bad."

She treats her symptoms with pain relievers prescribed by her doctor.

"About six years ago is when I found the doctor that actually diagnosed me and started treated me to the point where I could have a semi-normal life," Magers said.

She is one of many patients who say they're the unintentional victims of the crackdown on opioids.

"I have friends who have been dumped by the doctors," she said. "They don't want to write prescriptions anymore."

Magers helped organize a rally in September outside the Indiana Statehouse, calling on lawmakers to ease the restrictions they face in getting drugs that treat their pain.

There's also a video, but of course they barely write anything and make it out to be that some patients are just bitching rather than acknowledging the massive damage the refusal of opiod prescriptions has caused many... Not just some

Opiods are not the answer to pain and only create addiction. These folks should get off the stuff and go cold turkey.Join AA or something.I would rather have pain than a monkey on my back.

When people have life obligations such as raising a family or maintaining an income to sustain a stable life... Not everyone has the option of going through the instability it takes to cold turkey and nasty need time to transition to a non drug treatment method. Plus there isn't a problem with taking 5-10 mg hydrocodone every 6 hours if it helps maintain stability. There's a huge difference between addiction and dependency, which does not get acknowledged enough. Opiods because a problem because of addictions leading to out of control dependencies when they used excessive amounts that bordered on fatal overdosed and regulations led to nodding, but that doesn't mean everyone with a dependency has a problem that needs to be ceased immediately especially if they use responsibly and don't reach overdose amounts or have effects that impact their lives. There's too much stigma against those using opiods and it's not right.

yeah, I've been saying all along that it is not fair that people in chronic pain suffer for the "opioid epidemic" caused by the pharmaceutical industry combined with the military industrial complex who is bringing in 90% of the opium coming from afganistan.    Only the military can bring in shipments that large.  think about it.  and why are we there?  to fight a terrorist or some a threat of terrorism that never existed and was a lie? Yeah, Oh, ok.  Everything revolves around money and greed.  what is moral and right doesn't matter anymore.

I would kill myself if I had to live in chronic pain that couldn't be managed or controlled.

You obviously don't know what chronic pain is like then. Dont get me wrong, it's always better to find an alternative, but when the pain gets bad enough you're looking up all your old junkie friends phone numbers for some relief come back and tell me how people should just go cold turkey and get on with their lives and responsibilities. Chronic pain isn't just like when you work out too much and you feel sore. At my worst point I had such bad peripheral neuropathy I was waking up in the middle of the night because touching bed sheets was like sticking my leg in a furnace. I couldn't wear socks for over a year and everything I touched felt like a hot coal on my skin. You get to a point where it's pain relief or suicide and you can't possibly tell me that being dependent on painkillers is worse than being dead.

This is 100% true, my dad has crushed and bulging discs, formerly terminal interstitial fibrosis, CNS damage and more. He shakes in pain everyday it's so bad. Weed helps a lot but the quality of life goes down dramatically when you can barely sit up because of pain. They fucking cut my DOGS pain meds (tramadol) and he's 11 and has addisons .

My mom has panic attacks that lead to hospitalization of she can't get .25mg xanax. She had an rx for .25 mg xanax along with pain meds from a bad stunt accident.

For 20 years she never went above a .25mg xanax and now with the crackdown they took it away from her.

This is killing Americans and putting tons of other Americans in a position where your in so much pain life isn't worth it.

This is the single worst "state of emergency" to effect my family directly in my lifetime. My doctors say that they're professional opinion is with my ptsd i should have 3mg Xanax a day but with the crackdown they can only give 2mg total even to war vets with ptsd. It's a self righteousness piece of shit move to not help the problem of addiction AND punish people with legitimate pain.

It's cruel and unusual it makes it so a doctor can't prescribe what they feel necessary and they're scared to prescribe anything at all.

The worst part is addicts are coddled with ORT, which yes is helpful to few who are truly devoted to stopping while many just use it as a crutch in between their use, and worst of all many doctors are using the availability of such treatment as an excuse to cut people off pain meds because they can just call them addicts and pretend that a methadone clinic is equivalent to pain meds when it isn't dosed enough where patients are expected to overdose to get longer relief. Plus patients have to travel to these clinics for doses when it isn't possible due to pain at times that wouldn't be a problem if they could get their dose before having to travel triggering pain due to being active without the opiods preventing the pain from triggering. The doctors who claim to be taking care of their patients should be liable for their patients pain if the prescriptions are not enough yet the way things are the patients get blamed for not being able to withstand pain that no one could bear... They get away with it too because if they call them an addict that's the only requirement to have that label now even if the use doesn't affect their life negatively, but the reduction of use at too rapid a pace, and no one is able to argue the doctors as they have too much diagnosing powers that even with family and friends arguing the doctors opinion it doesn't matter. It's as if they say that if one develops a physical dependency they are addicts as if there's a way to use opiods on a regular basis without a dependency. It's not right as many responsible users are having their lives destroyed by withdrawals that aren't their fault for developing and in fact the fault of the doctors who discontinued them yet with the way society is now they don't s acknowledge that and blame the patient for having developed a dependency when many aren't even made aware of the dependency until it's too late. This situation needs to change and it needs to change now

Couldn't of said it better!
A barrel of oil is well under a $100
HOW MUCH IS A BARREL OF HEROIN WORTH?
They Gov't proved they are more than willing to feed these habits in the 1960s during the war and again in the 1980s with Noriega and the contra BS... Our military has been the unknowing drug traffickers for decades.
Have you seen a photo of the poppy fields in afghanistan, every picture has US military protecting it.

The Taliban banned that shit to keep the population poor and defenseless, since they have rebuilt they are the ones dealing to the military, so the people are enslaved and cannot fight back.
The BS that this is being sent by cartels in Mexico is just that, you would never have the levels of consistency and in all major cities, then it spreads outward... It would be purist in border states to Mexico if that were the case...
Mexico cartels have said for years they are not the traffickers, they broker the deals to US DEA and its shipped here by them.
They make meth in mexico to replace weed, the Govt sprays all there lands with Roundup to keep the weed supply down (which kills poppy as well)  The US also sprays in other SA countries to kill the coca plants, but Afghanistan is the exception and the excuse, crazy as it sounds is that they the US do not want to damage there grown food supply with round up, it didnt matter in south America so why care about Afghanistan unless that is there opium supply!
They US has stated they get a large % of the medical opium for Big Pharma from Afghanistan, its hard to believe they wouldn't ship extra for the black market!
Are we supposed to believe its strongest in major cities (NY,LA,CHI) by accident, try driving from texas to NY with a truckload of drugs and see how long you can pull that trip off!

A simple solution should be the Govt staying out of peoples choices, NO VICTIM NO CRIME!
It should never be a criminal offense to buy a prostitute of legal age, gamble on a sports event or get F*cking High !
If it was all legal the cost to produce would be next to nothing and the crazy taxes could fund any type of rehab/crime related victims(theft) like a victim relief fund. All the medical grade pain meds could be taxed to go toward people who want off. The black market would collapse and the true OD rate would drop due to fentanyl not being needed, just like meth,RC's, Spice and the rest of the BS fake drugs

Opioids are a neccesity and have been since the discovery of the poppy..

There has never been a better pain reliever, it is found in nature, and the main problem is just addiction

Which takes months of daily use even for mild withdrawal (not so much referring to fent but morphine oxycodone etc)

In the hospital, for severe pain, most people do not get hooked on IV morphine. Mostly happens with prescription bottles

People who think opioids need to be "abolished"....might as well do that with the cannabis plant too. I could say its a "neccesary evil" but plants are not evil. Just like thc/anandamide, we have our own internal opioids and endorphins are the same thing as morphine.

Hey Seriously_Tripping, get your dog some kratom. I was giving my 60 pound dog 2 grams when she tore her ACL. It kept her calm and on the couch so she could heal. You can put it in caps and push it down her throat or you can mix it in some ground beef.

The opoid crisis is a shame, and Trump trying to clean it up isn’t good either. I started working in a hospital in 2001. We were indoctrinated into the myth that using opoids as prescribed doesn’t lead to addiction. We were literally given pens with the OxyContin label. During that time, we would have elderly people come in that looked like they just lost a big MMA match. They were  getting all fucked up on pain and sleep meds and would fall on their faces and remember nothing. The same ones would come back over and over, often times they would take their months worth of pills in a week. It changed my perception because I had a preconceived image of what addug addict looked like, and it wasn’t that of a little old lady. Some of these people were throwing down like Charlie Sheen, LOl. At least that scenario has lessened, but it’s a shame that people with legitimate pain are being made to suffer because of the past reckless prescribing of opoids.

Its all part of the overarching opioid epidemic. I agree, pain patients are victims and i know this sort of thing firsthand. Its not even just with opioids but alot of prescriptions now, if its a controlled substance, say you get 3 for various conditions, at least in my state they watch anyone getting 3 controlled substances even if its lyrica or whatever

If you get one from a pain doc and another from a psychiatrist, even worse, but what are you supposed to do?

ima be honest, i think its shitty just cuz i like to get high on them lol. had been for a decade without any problems... and i honestly think the "epidemic" is people getting fake pills pressed with fent... thats just my opinion tho.

now i cant find them anywhere at all... ive never snorted dog food in my life, but boy has it crossed my mind... im supossed to have surgery on my finger in a couple months if it doesnt improve anymore, but i dont think i want to have my shit sliced open and rotated with pins and shit put in it especially if ima have to go through all that without any medicine for that...

shit is bull shit lol.. i know its the fake pills pressed with fent that people are dying from

Actually since you abuse these pills, youre a small part of the problem, lol.  We are talking about people who need them for pain but cant get them. I had my period of too much oxy tho, so, no judgement really

They are controlling who gets them very strictly. Esp if your area has a local opioid problem

However, for whatever reason, actual fentanyl patches youd get RX way easier than oxy. Crazy mofos

Prince died from a fake Vicodin. Xanax is usually fake presses too. I feel like alot of the time the oxy is real. Gotta just get it from a pharmacy first hand. Its a real problem with pharms on the street these days. Deadly problem really. I avoid all presses. I Only use liquid alprazolam or blotter if its not rx

well i never had a problem, i just enjoy them for rec use but never a daily type of thing lol. wouldnt really call it abuse. i just think the fake pills out there are the major problem and they are going about correcting the problem completely wrong.
people who do actually need them arent able to get them and i dont really know what they hope to accomplish. my predictions is things wont change much, fake pills will still be available as well as heroin. i really dont think the main problem was the rx

i ust thought id chime in since i think anyone should be able to have whatever they want if they need it or if they just want to enjoy it recreation like i do.

I thinkj opioids have some value in the treatment of pain but the problem with using them daily for chronic pain is tolerance. You actually become more sensitive to pain when you take opioids long term and the majority of the relief they used to bring is mitigated by tolerance. So to me it seems the main effect they provide is addiction. Is that addiction worth the small amount of pain relief one still gets?

Well it's not only that.  Addicts are now specifically looking for fent because they can still get high off it with their tolerance.  It's also much cheaper and easier to make than heroin.

The only fent i see anyone seeking out is rx Duragesic or Actiq, basically known dosage

But i dont really know anyone who shoots up these days, maybe theyre that crazy to search for carfentanil. That i dont know

I do know detox drugs like buprenorphine, methadone etc sometimes arent strong enough to handle carfentanil and such. Or even fentanyl citrate
