Questions, Members in Vermont/Maine * 1
    #25546795 -

So i'm looking for some advice.

I've been thinking about relocating from the West Coast and buying property back in the NE.  Been looking at Vermont and Maine.

I grew up near that area but never visited either state.

So I just figured i'd see if any members are from that area or have visited could recommend what cities/areas are the best places to be in those states or what areas to avoid.

As well as what the MMJ culture is like there.

Would definitely appreciate any input.

:yesnod:

Portland, Maine is raved about. I image it would be a great place to buy. I've been there to visit and it's lovely.

Depends on if you want a city or more rural area though.

Vermont is BEAUTIFUL and the people are super nice and laid back

Rhats why the northeast rules, because you have small towns or cities without the backwoods red neck bullshit

Been toportland Maine and Maine as well is beautiful with plenty of remoteness yet again its different then being out in the middle of nowhere in the Midwest or whatever

ive been thinking about maine alot recently. one point u might like big perm is weed is legal in portland city limits like 100% u can like smoke a joint on the street and no one will say shit. the laws have been crazy lax for ever in the state and like it used be if u got caught with like 10lbs they were like jus pay money and u can go so all the growers moved up there so the bud scene is crazy. maine has some the best nugs and hash in the country easy. the biscuits play up there sometime still too. its like 70 degrees all summer up there. it really is vacation land and in the summer its pretty hoppin. theres also an awesome beer scene i mean vermont and maine. i think bissel brothers has be one the top in the country tho honestly. got slammin lobster and good food pretty cheap certain places. stuff in general is pretty cheap cuz ppl dont have money there. ppl are mostly mad chill and super nice n jus came outta the stix. the nature up there is still quite pristine and the fishing and stuff is some the best in the country. if ur outside of portland its pretty much jus trees and shit and people with no money.

I like both states a lot.  One side of my family is from the portland-saco area of Maine.  If you enjoy laid back people and lots of great outdoor opportunities I'd do it.

If it weren't for alaska, vermont would be my back pocket spot to bail to.

Niceee

Thanks for the replies.

You kind of got me excited about Maine Chief lol.

Ya I'm looking to buy property that is in the woods/rural setting within an hour drive to a cool city in either state.

The best priced properties were I believe in the northern part of the states close to the Canadian border.  A cabin and like 20 acres for about $30,000.    Not sure if I should look more to the coast or if close to the border could be cool.    Would definitely prefer a longer growing season but I've been at 8-9k elevation and have been making it work with the weather here.

This is a must too.  I've been living in one of the most laid back, open minded places where growing weed is the culture, ayahuasca ceremonies, vision quests and shit.  So I can't end up somewhere with uptight people/police who are going to fuck with me.

You might wonder why i'd want to leave, But I've been pretty isolated in a somewhat desert the last few years, which is great sometimes but I am starting to look towards being around people,  and things to do again,  where there are forests, lakes and rivers and I can still live the way I do now.

I'm going to check out areas around Portland right now and look back at the replies and see what other spots were mentioned.

mountain west if you really wanna get technical about it :nerd: to me it's just the west. i miss it out there. i spent 10 years of my childhood in wyoming. but i'm still east coast til i die.

maine and vermont both seem awesome, but especially maine. they have that 100 miles wilderness or whatever along the appalachian trail. seems like a wild ass place. very black metal.

That's what's up.

I have an extended 21 plant count out here too so maybe they would still max me out at 18 there, which would be fine.

If you don't mind me asking, what are lbs of flower and bho going for out that way now?

Late to this party, but my guy (Southern Maine) pays anywhere from 1.6k-2k a lb out here depending on the bud (he usually just picks up one at a time).  Not sure of BHO prices.  As long as you don't get involved with the wrong crowd or make yourself super obviously sketchy you can you can get away with a lot in this state.  People don't really make a big deal out of small things out here.

I grew up in Maine. Portland is a great city. Anywhere else is going to be difficult if you’re looking for a city vibe.

If you’re trying to grow outdoor, the climate is challenging in Maine. You’ll have to be selective about strains. The further south you can get the better off you’ll be. Property prices are also much higher down there though. If you get too close to the coast you’ll have to consider Summer fog and lower temps.

Personally, I feel like the weed thing isn’t all it’s cracked up to be anymore. The price is dropping $200+ a year. You can still make a living doing it, but the money’s not any better than a 9-5 and the risks are multi- faceted.

Yeah man like an hour and a half to the city or an hour to the beach is fine, easy driving. Of course Colorado is nothing like the Alps, all the prostitutes walking around on the side roads surrounded by mountains and rich rich farmland, ah, just thinking about the fatherland makes me nostalgic.

The beach is over rated just more stupid people per square inch, get a house with a pool and you're basically a rock star.
