Let me tell you a story. A story of my favourite band!

When I turned 11 years old, I got about 300 South African Rand for my birthday. Feeling super rich and bad-ass, and because I wanted to impress my older brother, I bought myself a copy of D12's album "D12 World" and a compilation CD called "Now 32".

I rocked it out, until I heard a song on "Now 32" called "I Miss You" from blink-182. It struck all the right chords in my wannabe, sentimental heart.

Long story short, I convinced my brother to buy D12's album from me, he was into Eminem at that stage, and I proceeded to buy blink's untitled album.

From then on forth I systematically saved money throughout my teenager years and vowed to BUY each album, not copy or download it! Since I wanted to support them. I even started playing drums and joined bands because of Travis Barker.

At some point I even dressed like them! haha. And they're funny as hell!

Whoo. Blink, man. I love those guys. And all their other "projects" like +44, Boxcar Racer...and Tom's Angels and Airwaves. Sucks that he's not in the band now...

Anyway.

Yeah dudes a nut job. I remember a kid in high school got a blink 182 tattoo. Somewhere out there is a man well into his 30s struggling with the transition into adulthood with a blink 182 tattoo. I like to imagine hes probably a line cook or a barista.

Blink 182 was one of my favorite bands as a kid, as well as The Offspring.

I'm so happy someone posted the JRE episode with him so I didn't have to.  If you watch that it's obvious that he is running out of money, has a bad stimulant habit (likely cocaine) and isn't serious about anything.  I enjoy their music, but dude one step away.  He's taking Nassim Haramein's (or also any other "self help" for-profit companies) model of scamming people with bullshit.  He just sat there and made up stories for an hour and then when he realized there were no bathroom breaks he left LOL.  Then  he finally said that essentially his company is half a million in debt and needs people to buy shares.  Highly recommend just glancing through that episode for some lulz.

I would sit with my portable CD player and flip through their lyrics in those little booklets and learn every word of every song.  Don't listen to them as much now, was taking a trip along nostalgic lane and all this came back to me. For me at least they were pretty decent role models back then.

Me and my best friend even started our friendship in our mutual fandom. He would later start playing bass and we would rock out.

Man all that shit around the early 2000s was the shit. Blink 182..dare I say limp bizkit and kid rock..dave Mathews band. Never got into good Charlotte though.

I liked them because they sucked a bit, and were awkward and bad (don't actually believe this), but also really good and genuine in a way.

They seemed really authentic to me.

Was/is MUCH more than just the way the music "sounds" to me! But, yeah, I don't care what you think, man. :cool: :heart:
