Glassboro charges two in LSD sting

GLASSBORO -- Police and county investigators arrested two Massachusetts men Tuesday afternoon for attempting to buy 20,000 tabs of LSD.
***** and *****, both 19 and both from Amherst, Mass., were arrested at about 5:06 p.m. at an undisclosed location in Glassboro, authorities said. The arrests came after the two men allegedly tried to negotiate the sale of the 20,000 dosage units of LSD with undercover officers, said authorities.
The Glassboro Police Department's Special Investigations Unit gathered information from confidential sources that allowed undercover officers from the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Strike Force to work with the two Massachusetts men, police said. The two men believed they were buying LSD from a main source, said police.
By long distance, the Massachusetts men negotiated a price of $20,000 for the LSD and came to Glassboro to buy it, police reported. They met with the undercover officers and paid them. At that point, said police, the two men were arrested.
The LSD they thought they were buying -- which apparently does not actually exist -- would have had a street value of more than $100,000, said police.
Both men were charged with conspiracy to possess LSD, conspiracy to distribute LSD and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, said police. Both were committed to the Gloucester County Jail in Woodbury in default of $75,000 full cash bail each, police said.
Police seized the $20,000 in cash.
Police said Tuesday's arrests were the result of a month-long investigation.
Police and county investigators arrested two men from Atlanta at the College Inn Motor Lodge here Jan. 6 when they allegedly attempted to buy 10,000 doses of LSD from an undercover officer. At that time, they also seized $12,000 cash.

wow
great way for the city to make a quick $20,000. I wonder where the "siezed" money goes?
Were they trying to buy it at $1 a hit?? wow 20,000 hits at $1 a hit, seems like a huge rip off even if it was legit...

Normally, by law, the confiscated money goes to the arresting agency for use in funding further the war on drugs. thats why so many civil rights unions have a problem with it, since it creates such a conflict of interest. in some states if a cop stops you and you have a gram of weed on you your car can be confiscated and sold with the profits going to the police. good incentive to bust drugs? you bet!!! just like highway robbery!!

Hey man thanks for posting that news story. I am one of the guys from Atlanta that they arrested in early January. I've been looking all over for it, but was unable to find it because most of the NJ online papers only archive back two weeks. My attorney in Woodbury who is defending me in this ridiculous fiasco told me about this new sting that involved the two Massachusetts guys, and I was very interested to know anything that I could about it.
