Question about doses and measurements....

I've read on Erowid that 1-2 dry grams is the common dose for most users.  I'm curious how many shrooms and caps that would equal, just using an average shroom size.  I know the few times I've bought shrooms, I've usually split an 1/8 with someone.  I know pretty much how an 1/8 is supposed to look, but how many grams are actually in an 1/8??  Better yet, some of you own those digital scales.  Why not take a picture of different measurements (dry and wet) and put them in the FAQs??  Good idea, huh?? :smile:

Also, I've heard numerous disputes about the caps being more potent than the stems, vise versa.  What is the truth, if there is one??

Just preparing myself since these bad boys should be ready in a week or two.  Thanks!!

an ounce is 28 grams. 'eighth', 'quarter', etc all refer to portions of an ounce. eighth = 28/8 = 3.5. quarter = 28/4 = 7. so on and so forth.

why don't you just buy a digital scale, you can get one for about $30 shipped at www.oldwillknot.com .

You really can't estimate how many shrooms will measure out to be 1 or 2 grams since there are numerous ways to get 1 - 2 grams with shrooms.  It's like asking how many coins are in a dollar.  Someone could tell you there's 100 pennies in a dollar, or someone might tell you there's 4 quarters in a dollar.  Then I might come along and tell you there's 5 dimes, 2 nickles, 1 quarter and 15 pennies... get the picture?  There could be 50 aborts in 2 grams, or 1 good sized shroom, or three medium shrooms and 2 small ones, or 2 small ones and 10 aborts... And to make it even more complicated, each person has a different opinion on what a big, medium, small and abort sized shroom is.  If there were a general rule to how many shrooms went in to a specific weight amount, it would surely be in one of the FAQ's, but since it's almost imposible to estimate you'll never see it in a FAQ.  The best way to know for sure is just to fork out some cash and get a scale.  Even cheap scales can work wonders.

Taking pictures of different measurments and posting them wouldn't be a good idea becasue, 1. even with a high quality picture and an object in the picture to show size comparison, it would be hard to guage the dimensions of the amount pictured. And 2. each measurement will look different.  Like mentioned above, there's countless ways shrooms can measure out to be a particular dosage.  If I showed you an ounce of aborts then compared it to an ounce of large shrooms, you would think there is no way in hell the two were equal.  The only way you could really tell is by using a scale.

As for the potency of caps comapred to stems...  This question has been asked hundreds if not thousands of times in the fourms.  This will be the last time that I ever answer it as well.  Learn t utilize the search function.  It will save you time and hassle from other members.  There is a difference in potency; caps are more potent then stems.  BUT, the difference is so miniscule that one would never be able to distinguish between the two.  If on one trip you tripped exclusivly on 2 grams of caps then your following trip you tripped on 2 grams of stems, in potency terms, the trips would seem identicle.

5 nickels = 21 grams
1 nickle = 4.2 grams
To give you a very rough estimate using a balance scale
