OP

I think a lot of people feel that way is because most people post on FB in a way that makes their life seem perfect and always positive from an outside perspective.

Which starts to make people think that their ups and downs are unnatural and that they aren't living up to this false heightened potential of "success" and fulfillment that their peers seem to have achieved.

Most people post all the good things that are happening, but never the fucked up moments.

That's why I like shroomery.    Everybody is having ups and downs and all arounds and are comfortable sharing moments in their life, whether good or bad, which is something we can all relate to.

True that

FB is so full of empty, vicarious living. So few friends from FB I can really open up to. These days I keep it just for the sake of keeping up with people in relation to several projects I help with but I don't really share much of myself there. I did post several videos relating to Ayahuasca and the positive impact of entheogens lately just to help raise awareness but I kind of felt like I was preaching to the choir at the same time given the company I was among... my FB friends. It's not all stupid people on FB... not always at least... but I'm used to feeling a bit alone and distant no matter who I'm with. Nobody can fully see into another's soul... at least not that easily. Maybe after decades of knowing somebody or in having a very rare, close personal connection to another human being.
