I find your chart to be some what mis-representative of Western Europe in it's entirety. The majority of the terror attacks committed in "Western Europe" through out the 70's and 80's would have been confined all most entirely to Northern Ireland.

And the majority in recent times have been confined mainly in France and Belgium.

But the IRA attacks don't count because they weren't perpetrated by muslims.

Nice strawman.

If it was a strawman, then what was the purpose of the distinction "islamic terrorism" in your chart?

What?

It's a strawman because I never said "the IRA attacks don't count" it's as simple as that. Every thing else I posted is irrelevant to your statement.

Let's continue with the quantitative/data theme.  There are an estimated 20 million Muslims in the EU alone.  Given the history of terror attacks, what percentage of them do you believe to be terrorists?

There was data published a while back regarding this. It also included info on moderates who sympathized with Jihadists. The figures were actually quiet shocking.

I'll try and find it and post it here when I can. Not now though. It's late and I've got an early start tomorrow morning.

I suspect you're referring to the polls in this link:

Muslims and Islam: Key findings in the U.S. and around the world

Unfortunately, Muslims from the EU aren't shown in the above chart.

If we're talking about the rise of the far-right in Europe, then IRA attacks 40 years ago are totally irrelevant.

All that matters is whether the millions of Muslims already in Europe want to live in peace. The answer is no.

It is amazing the extent to which Bin Laden achieved his objectives (talking about the economic impact of our over reaction and not the jets hitting the buildings) and the extent to which we did not achieve our objectives militarily. In the U.S. less then 350 people died and 320 million suffered. I left out a couple million for the super rich who some how made it through.

And the obsession with airport security. Sure, we had to take action, but what are the odds they were going to try the same thing twice. Certainly we increased the number of air marshals on jets, which makes more sense than most of Homeland Security.

that is if you assume the US government at it's highest levels actually went in wanting to or expecting to win anything. I'm not too sure that's the goal, when unending but largely nonthreatening (to the political and corporate elite) overseas conflict keeps the war-machine chugging so conveniently

Are they?

Yes, and the migrant crisis is only going to increase it.

BTW, why is death the only criteria you're using to measure the damage from terrorist attacks, what about the person who's physically damaged for life after being run over by a truck?  They don't count?

If you have a chart showing casualties from terror attacks over time, please share.

http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/693954/Terror-in-Europe-map-deaths-injuries-attacks-2016

Just an example of how deaths are just a small percentage of the overall victims- "2016- Germany 10 dead 42 injured, Belgium 32 dead 300 injured, France 87 dead 300 injured"

Also, the psychological damage from others not physically injured must be very large and truly will last a lifetime.

Why you're try to constantly attempting to dismiss the significance of these events is beyond me, it goes further than just the victims that die from these attacks, it affects the family members, the local communities and the entire culture.

Polls from Pew, regarding Muslim attitudes toward suicide bombings who are living in the West.

The percentages of Muslims aged 18-29 in France who believe suicide bombings are all ways justified is 42%. The UK is 35%, Spain 29%, US 26% and Germany 22%.

Given the total number of Muslims living in all of these country's, that's a hell of alot of support for terrorism.

I'm not disputing there are casualties besides deaths.  :facepalm3:

I originally said deaths were trending down, and I asked if you had data to show how other casualties were trending.

I'm not dismissing it, I'm just trying to put it in perspective.  The odds of dying from a terror attack are TINY.  Of course, if you're one of the unfortunate ones, it sucks to be you.  But there are other things we should focus our attention on first, like preventing an asteroid from hitting us:

Sorry, thousands not hundreds. They originally said 3500 then said it was a few hundred less then settled on just under 3000.

Another apples vs oranges comparison, it's not about "The odds of dying from a terror attack are TINY", it's about the stability and security of the entire nation.

When people aren't confident in the national security of an area it affects the economy, investors don't put capital to work, laws are changed, resources are put into other areas, it's very harmful for the whole culture.

"we should focus our attention on first, like preventing an asteroid from hitting us"

Another pathetic attempt to be dismissive of a real time serious issue here in 2017, why do you think people like Le Pen are getting very close to being elected in France?  Because they fear for the safety of their homelands, so keep on talking about asteroids and dismiss the legitimate concerns of real people in those nations and see how that works out for the left.  :rofl2:

But it is exactly about the odds of a terror attack.  Why should people lose confidence in their perceived security when in fact they are really quite secure?  It's because people don't understand these odds and run around like Chicken Littles screaming 'The sky is falling' when in fact it is not.

Why do I think there are so many otherwise intelligent Chicken Littles running around?  I think it's because people are looking for any excuse they can find to hate on non-whites and pretend they're not bigots.

I'm trying to throw some reality in their face to see if they prefer reality or continue to insist the sky is falling.
