I was wondering the same thing.

Turtle: Irrelevancy comes with lack of power. I'd say that makes the President one of the most "relevant" people in the world. Otherwise why would he have so many "haters"?

after all the whole killin' kurds thing is ridiculous

He killed them with ammo given to him by the US, and the admin dosnt really care about kurds anyway
saw a doco ' good kurd/bad kurd' - basically Turkey kills and harasses their kurds which is ok so long as the US and Nato keep turkey on side but saddam kills kurds and it can be used as propaganda

forgive me for thinking finding saddam isnt a good thing but heres why
a) a victory for the US admin - now theyll gloat incessantly and have the confidence to invade another country illegally - further establishing the US as a rogue state and stretching US miltary resources even thinner so it has little home defence
b) Power structure and loyalties of resistance will change - fedayeen will defect to one or another cause - which are probably less well understood than the old guard
c) The allies illegally go in and kill thousands of iraqis in order to catch a guy who killed thousands of iraqis... c minus on that one

the underlying problems arent fixed by this

1) the country is rubble
2) Theyve got soldiers trying to be police (with no language skills)
3) thyeve exclude all the iraqis who held public office as bath party members from hold office so your back to an untrained and unskilled workforce
4) Troop deaths are escalating,and war crimes escalating as frustrated armed and young soldiers are put in situations theyre not trained for

re admission of WMD
youll prob get one - after all the US and the UK never signed the convention banning torture

its a fuck up

this is an important issue i have long previously pondered. what is a fifth? does anyone know?

in the UK we buy a bottle (750ml usually) half-bottle (375ml) or quarter bottle (180ml). you can also buy these camp-looking single measure bottles, good only for storing pot in once used up. 1000ml bottles are better, from duty-free after trips.

so, a 'fifth' is what? someone has to have one there in front of him.

perhaps the iraquis would rather be ran by a dictator than by ...
i mean... this war is completely illegal and people don't realize how close (or how further) the united states of america is of the pure essence of nazism or facism...
i can't not to say anything when i see someone supporting saddams capture.
people never realize when they become what they most fear.
perhaps if the whole nation (specially the politicians) took some shrooms and saw themselves how they really are (10g dry), the 'evilness' would lose its place...
anyways, unlike you i don't hate people that think or that actually ARE different of me (like saddam, like pot smokers for society), i want to make it clear that this 'flame' has no personal offensive content, it's just my words.

Finally some good news. I don't agree with the war but come on how can anyone wish he hadn't been captured? He is evil plain and simple and now he won't hurt another person.

Ha! When stuff like this happens right before an election you KNOW it's been doctored. Yeah, I bet they captured him two months ago and have been waiting for the right moment to give Bush's polls a boost. And Gore just finished coming out in favour of that Dean fellow (or whatever his name is, I'm Canadian and so don't have any vested interest in that election) so this makes a nice way to deflate the Democrats and get media back in Bush's corner.

No doubt they'll get a 'confidential tip' that Bin Laden is in Syria or Iran is processing weapon-grade plutonium or something and get that War Machine rolling onwards. Leave some allied country troops in Iraq to protect the oil resources and get blown up. Then set it up so that the next war is only likely to happen if the Republicans get re-elected and count on their propaganda to make the majority of Americans think that another war will be a good thing. I bet bodybag futures quintupled when this news hit the stock markets...

the fifth (fifth ammendment" is a right of an american citizen to refuse answering a question from a legal authority figure, in court, on the grounds that it may incriminate him/her

however, dispite claims to the contrary, it is often considered an all-ncompassing admission of guilt.

A "fifth" in american terms, is 1/5 of a gallon, generally of liquer. Equivalent to 750 ml.
Also, liquer comes in half gallons...i like those!

Finally, someone talking in terms so simple that even i can understand :smile: so basically then a fifth equals what we up here in canada call a 26er, 375 ml is 12 oz and called a Mickey, we also have 40 ouncers but i've never drank that much in my life in one sitting :grin:
