Have you seen The Wailers?

I saw them this past weekend, and it was fucking awesome. It really complimented the sunshiny, Summertime, Saturday afternoon quite well. I was peaking on too
If they're playing near you, you can't miss them. They're a historical icon for a reason. They're coming around this weekend with the Rusted Roots and I think I might just see them again (EDIT: Just got my ticket)
Any of you older folks see them back in the day with Bob Marley?

I have not, but I saw Ziggy Marley at the Minnesota Zoo.
Was the single greatest concert I've been too in my life.
He played plenty of Bob's songs as a tribute too, it was fucking AMAZING.
The whole zoo smelled so much like weed, I think the animals all had contact highs of being fucking high as shit. I was high as shit. People we're passing around blunts, and vape pens and joints, and anything you can imagine through the crowd, even to strangers. No one gave two shits. Security couldn't stop it unless they arrested 97 percent of the crowd.

I have very briefly caught them before. Def getting old, but still super awesome, and no less full of soul.
Steel Pulse is in town the 17th, I am thinking about heading over there.

That's awesome.
I saw both Ziggy and Damian last Summer.
I liked Ziggy, although wasn't there for much of the show. (At a fest.)
Was not a fan of Damian though, it was more hip-hop than reggae

Yeah, Sheeks. I love their live performances.
It's been some years since I've seen them but they played an amazing 2 hour set at MarleyFest here a few years back.

Yeah his is definitely more hip hop. The show I saw wasn't a festival either, It was called music at the zoo, personally if Im going to a concert for the music I dont like festivals, the fact that multiple bands play the same area kinda sucks, you can always hear someone elses music usually. They're great for the festival experience, but meh in terms of a concert music quality.
His set was incredibly long though. I was trying to find his version of No woman No cry but I can't find the live version. His set alone was multiple hours long, he even took a break, let another band come on that opened, and then came back on stage, jammed with the band that opened, and then played another set after he had a break. I've never ever seen that done before, and it really shows you what a loving person he is.
The opening bands we're all wonderful as well. I remember being there from like noon-midnight though I swear. It was probably like 1:00 the concert started but it was the longest show I've ever been too.
The best part? I got in for free. My friends mom won the tickets on the radio, and didn't want to go because it was 90+ degrees out and very humid and gave them to her son, who was a really close friend, I called his parents retarded and snatched those tix up so fast. It was really great.

I haven't been to a festival where the music stages genuinely have overlapping sound, they're usually pretty far apart and with great quality IME.
This place for example, had two stages right next to each other, for constant music. As soon as one band ended on one stage, music would begin on the other, and the music would always play through ALL the speakers. It was awesome.
Damn the show started at 1am? That's nuts. Awesome about the long performance though.
Lol @ calling your friends parents retarded.

No it started at 1pm my bad lol. It said I remember being there from like noon to midnight, meaning 12pm - 12am. The longest concert I've ever been too.
Unless your 1am was a typo. They we're like 300-400 dollar tix. That's why I was so stoked on it, especially since the tickets we're from a radio contest. There we're so many opening bands it was nuts.

Saw them last year at Glasto on the Sunday and they were amazing! The only thing that would've been nice is if they had played some Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer tunes also.
Saw Damian a few years ago at Wembley arena with Nas. That was a sick gig (despite getting pulled for ganja by dogs and plains-clothes...). We had Rodigan on first, then Erykah Badu, followed by Damian and Nas. It was epicccc
Looking forward to Steel Pulse at Glasto on the Sunday this year! <3 Reggae

I just saw The Wailers a couple months ago. Great show. I was pretty impressed with how good the band was. My only complaint was they were playing the Legend album, which isn't really a complaint. They just didn't deviate from the format of the CD for that show. I would have preferred them jam out and just play an open set, but it was still worth it.

They sounded fucking amazing when I saw them, like, if I didn't know any better I'd say they were playing with Bob's ghost.

I saw them a few years back in Columbus, Ohio. Great show! It was mid summer and super hot. It started raining, and it cooled everything down and felt great. Right as the rain came down, and the crowd started digging it they played....Don't worry bout a thing. Every little thing is gonna be alright. Perfect in every way.

the wailers are one of those groups that if you've been smoking weed and/or going to see live music for a while, you've probably caught a few times.
i like them, but i don't have as strong a pulling towards their tunes as I do other nostalgia groups - probably because most were radio classics when i was growing up

Yeah, I've seen them 3-4 times. They just play the CD and are unremarkable. If they were like at a festi and I wanted something to do, I would go lay in the grass and listen. Other than that, I wouldn't bother. Even if it was free somewhere in town, it's highly unlikely that I would go. As an aside, Damian Marley is one of the worse shows I've ever been to and Ziggy is marginally better. They are just ripoffs of Bob and have mediocre compositional talent.

I personally really like Ziggy as a musician. Yes, he resembles his father with his music, but why is that such a bad thing? When he performs down here for MarleyFest it's nothing to write home about, but it certainly isn't bad imo. As far as Damian goes, if you're into hip hop I think he puts on a hell of a show. Especially when he used to perform full sets with NAS. That was some good stuff.

I feel pretty much the same way. I don't know if I would go out of my way to watch them headline but I've always enjoyed sitting/laying in the grass while smoking weed, and listening to them perform.
