Things to do in Oregon and Northern California

In July I'm going to the Pacific Northwest for a 10 day vacation. What are some great things to do/see? Mainly outdoor stuff since I prefer forests and mountains but also interested in art and wool/sewing etc. Craftsy stuff, pottery, yarn etc
This is what I have so far:
Portland Ecola State Park Cannon Beach Haystack Rock Albany Crator Lake National Park Ashland Redwood Forest

Oregon caves should definitely be on that list
If you are going to Portland you may as well stop by where I live too, Eugene.
Considerably smaller but also less hipster, and more hippie
Haystock rock is awesome man, my grandpa owns a building there I believe, and I vacation there with family every Christmas.
Willamette national forest?
I have lived in Oregon most of my life but I don't get out enough and you already have most of the places I would recommend down

Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

Check out cougar hot springs just east of Eugene up the Mckensie river hwy across from cougar reservoir in the forest. There's also a kick ass rock slide just west of triangle lake. It's a slippery rock that you sit down on and slide down into a pool at the bottom.

East of cave junction and some are nearby Bend as well.
Hotsprings dot the whole state along the cascade ridge, into Northern California.
Btw, gotta add Mt. Shasta to your list!
If you like rock climbing, Pilot Rock - a millions of years old volcanic plug near Ashland is an excellent escapade.

Cannon beach is decently north of poortland, are you going to take the 101 down from there? Also why Albany? Come here to Eugene instead.

Albany is the choice of my travelling partner. I'll stop everywhere, I have 10 days in the NorthWest. Probably gonna take the 5 south and get off where we have planned to stop. Is the 101 a better option?
Also how Hippie is Oregon? My travelling partner is from New Jersey and does not like the Hippie lifestyle bleeding over into everything. Their opinion is that the smoking weed and being whatever you want to be is weird and unacceptable and should be done privately since her time in Jersey was all about work work work and conforming to society's ways.
Are there hippies and hipsters everywhere or is it just like everywhere else and people congregate to certain places to dress and act all Hippie? Travelling partner already doesn't like Portland just because of how the people are. How different is the way of life in Oregon as apposed to New Jersey?

Oregon is pretty diverse just like everywhere but definitely much different than Jersey. My mom had a roommate from jersey who was a total bitch
Sounds like your traveling partner might not like Oregon the most People not being themselves should be unacceptable, we don't want no squares here
I was just wondering since it seemed like a weird route, but all of Oregon is pretty beautiful though so go whichever way seems best.

It's a beautiful drive. There's really nothing like the Oregon coast. The 101 hugs the coastline all the way down. It's a bit extreme to drive the whole thing I suppose. I've done from Seaside to the sea lion caves and back. And another time went I-5 south and cut through at Grants Pass to Crescent City and down to the Redwoods and through Eureka. I would say you HAVE to at least see the Oregon coast. Cannon Beach is pretty cool with the rock and everything. Seaside has a nice beach and is very touristy. Chicks love it. But since you said you were going to the redwoods I thought it would be convenient to take that route, and July is decent beach weather to boot. But I'm into that sort of thing; driving and picturesque scenery. There are mountains, and little beach folk art shops galore.
Eugene could be fun. That natural rock slide is cool, and idk when you'll be there, but the Oregon Country Fair is something to see. It's a huge druggie naked hippie fest though, so your friend might not be comfortable.
You might want to check out a waterfall hike. Oregon has amazing waterfalls all over. Multnomah Falls is cool or one of the other falls around there that involve more hiking to find and not so much pavement. The Gorge is a nice drive (I-84) that just starts to get cool by the time you get to Multnomah falls. The gorge looks great in late afternoon/evening if it's sunny. The shadows really make the cliffs pop out better.
I don't understand what the huge appeal of Ashland is. But they have a Shakespeare festival there every year. And it's worth a stop if you're going that way.
Be careful smoking and driving. I imagine the cops will be on high alert for stoned driving with the new law.
Oregon is different than NJ. I have only ever been through NJ driving once. But I lived in Boston for a few years. There's a whole east coast attitude that is different than west coast. But the west coast is perfect for vacationing. People in Oregon don't mind acting like they are your friend for however long you want. Whereas, on the east coast people have about 30 seconds of nice in them and then if there's no chemistry it's like "fuck off". Also, people don't judge you based on how you look in Oregon. Which is nice when you're on vacation and don't necessarily care if you look great.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I appreciate it. I will add those all to my list.
The East Coast attitude you describe is what I have experienced as well. Thats how her family is especially her Mom which sucks. I'm gonna love Oregon. The green is what I am after. She'll love Oregon too, the natural beauty at the very least. She loves Waterfalls.
