What do you tip for delivery?

When you order food, what do you tend to tip? Do you base it on the delivery fee or how much you ordered? Do you take into account how far you are from the place or whether its rush hour or not?

I tip 15 to 20% Since Ive done the job before but on average you make about 8% and the delivery fee is just gas money and most places keep 1/2 of it.

I tip at least $5, even on $10 orders.
I have a bias cause I used to deliver pizza.
It was good pizza and they charged steep for it, but people would often just tip me a few bucks on $60 orders.
Shit was so frustrating.

I bet it was but they aren't obligated to tip you at all. I probably don't feel the same because I've never worked delivery but I would probably be mad if that shit happened to me. No lie.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they aren't obligated right?

I never did it, but other drivers would keep track of the people who didn't tip.
They would intentionally fuck up their orders after getting added to the list.

There's a valuable lesson to be learned in that:
Don't be a dick to people handling your food.

You are correct. Though there is social stigma against not tipping here in America.
So it's kind of "known" that it's a dick move to pull.

$5 is the bare fucking minimum you should ever tip a delivery person EVER!!

Let me put it too you in simple terms.  A waitress walks her lazy ass over too you 2 maybe 3 times and you give her 15%.  A delivery man drives your food to your house with his gas, his car, his insurance.  Tip the man at least 20%.

I always tip 5-10$ on pizza orders, even on small orders.

I used to be a pizza driver as well, so that does influence the decision.

On some occasions I have tipped 15$ or higher.

It helps I have a decent job now so I can afford to tip high.

Delivery is usually the only time I tip, and it's usually just "keep the change".

I was feeling bad that I could only tip a couple bucks on my last delivery so I asked the driver if he smoked so I hooked him up with a fatty nug. Later he text me that it was some of the best fire he's ever had and wanted to buy more . Lol

Yea i just started delivering a few weeks ago. Im amazed at how much i get in tips. On a saturday ill make $100-150 in 9 hours plus $6.50 base pay.

Not bad at all. I drive a boat though so the gas is killig me a little bit.

As far as taking weed, is definitely take it. The only offer ive gotten so far though is to smoke. Guy said he had a footlong blunt and offered me a hit. I was tempted until he said it was in the basement...no thank you

No but I did tip a guy 2 hits of white blotter and been tiped in beer or shots when delivering to bars. :shrug:

Not even, ill do 30-35 deliveries on those days. Ill deliver to larties that tip $15 or i get atleast 3 drunk/stoned pwople tippig $10 a piece. Of coursw some people dont tip, but i average about $3.50 per deliveey when everything is said and done

Yeah for 30 to 35 deliveries your numbers are spot on It was just the many times I've heard drivers claim they made that on 15 18 deliveries. I kept a mental note of how much in tips I made and it almost always averaged right around 3.50 :nodofunderstanding:
