Rails, Github, and Heroku

so i created an app with ruby on rails, runs the way i want it on localhost:3000, i have put it on github, and created a heroku account, but i cant find a simple tutorial on just getting this app on the net so other computers can see it, complete noob aswell, i just started playing with ruby like 3 days ago, and have 0 expirence with any other launguage

can anyone here help me?

also losing my internet and phone at the strike of 12 tonight, so i kinda wanna get it up before then

get a "cloud at cost" server.

download putty(windows?) or use their virtual terminal.

connect to your cloud at cost server

follow the same process you used locally to install rails and heroku. (if you're not using linux locally, it should be something like sudo get sudo make, ect on your server)

ftp/ssh in upload ur files, build ur app.

what does it do?

yeah to install ruby its like:
"$ sudo apt-get install ruby-full"

then from there you can install rails, and heroku. if you're not using linux, linux has "package managers" so you can just install popular shit from teh command line.

I forgot, but cloud at cost u want debian. i forget which version though maybe someone can chime in.I think like 7 something or 8 something.

edit: i don't know anything about setting up a server to build from git. I would say for now avoid that.

U learning rails to make those big bucks?

like i said ive only been at this a few days and your post seems kinda scary confusing, but i found a simple guide that got my website up, http://guides.railsgirls.com/heroku/

the only problem now is that it seems fine on my computer and my moms laptop, but on my gf's laptop the layout is all off and clicking links dont work unless you open them in a new tab, but i hope its just cause she is running an outdated os and outdated firefox

the intention is for people to post links to free or low cost events in my city, thats pretty much it

Fuck that tho, rails is big money right now. Put 6 months into learning it. Just do rails don't do any front end bullshit, and you'll be set to $$$.

Honestly if you can do that in 3 days, in 6 months you'll be all set to be a rails developer.
