My daughter I gave for adoption 17 years ago just contacted me. * 10
    #21447726 -

Just wanted to share something with you all that happened to me last night.
17 years ago my ex and I decided rather than having an abortion we would give our youngest baby girl up for adoption. We still have two children that we raised ourselves. Today my daughter contacted me, and I am happy to say she sounds like an awesome kid. She says that she has no hard feelings and wants to meet as much of my family as she can. I was adopted and have met my birth-mother, but still have yet to meet my birth-father. Also, her father died a few years ago, so I know that finding me hit a soft spot for them. I got to talk on the phone with her and her mother, and I can't tell you the love the is welled up inside of me for her.
Anyhow, I felt I had to share. (I'm sure some of us adopted Shroomites can relate)

We are all elated.

I'm really happy for you man  and your daughter too of course, and your whole family

I'm adopted, a twin actually my sister came with me, I met my birth parents when I was 18 and my sister was more hesitant but followed in my pursuit after a little time.  Got a ton of half siblings lol.  It's a long story as you can surely understand and I don't wanna make this about me anyway, but I just wanted to say it's a real blessing and honestly there will probably be times that are very weird and awkward (there are times like that for me) there's no manual to follow when it comes to adoption or anything and how to handle it when the kid grows up.  I talked to my biological dad for like 3 hours last night, it was a very deep conversation and I seemed to connect with him in a way I haven't yet.  As I sorta knew he was sorta given away by his dad when he was 1 or 2 and stayed with his mom, and his step dad was cruel to him in his early years but his uncle helped raise him a lot til he died when he was 12; he said it was a really tough time when he lost him and his family situation was kinda fucked for a while then.  His mom was in a car accident or something maybe before he was born so she has some issues, I learned his biological dad was actually a doorstep orphan or whatever so there's kind of a theme running there.

I'm glad he's there for me now though, I really don't resent my birth parents much and never have, although inevitably sometimes it's still hard not to feel a tad ashamed or whatever.  Just do everything you can to be there for your daughter as you can

All the best brother!  If you have any questions for me or anything or just wanna talk feel free to PM me anytime!  Coincidentally I can say that being raised by two amazing people not related by blood really instilled the chance for love between anybody :peace:

Oh yea and PS - it takes time I think to develop into a hardcore personal relationship, even if the love is pure and real from the start, there's just a lot of "lost time" you know?  I'm nearing 24 in 2 months and it takes years for some of the things to blossom.

To put it shortly, I gotta get ready for work now but you probably know what I mean, but hey there's no rush either you've got your whole lives ahead of you, just take it as naturally and comfortably as you can.

Just curious, how close does your daughter live to you?  That certainly makes things a bit more difficult for my sister and I, since we live about 200 miles from pretty much everyone in all my families.  I hold my immediate family extremely close to me!

i totally feel for you  MD. i have yet to meet my birth father, but recently found out some information and am going to meet him and more hopefully my brother who, up until i contacted him in 2011, had no idea i existed previously. shit, i didnt even know he existed until i met my sister and brother.

they don't even know i'm going to come see them this year, i have no idea how this is going to go but it shouldn't be so bad.

best of luck dealing with family dude.

really happy you got a chance to meet your daughter

i'm kind of glad i got put up for adoption at birth. things wouldnt be the way they are now and i have been given better opportunities as a result. sometimes adoption is better for the kid. not always, but sometimes.
